i just hit the user cp button, and it came up with AlfAndrews user page. i suddenly had access to all his private messages and anything. then i went back to the main forums page and it said "welcome back shiva" thankfully now im back to nicko18.

has this happened to anyone else??
 
just tried it then and it worked ok ... but thanks for mentioning it because obviously if that is a glitch, its not right that anyone might accidentally access someone elses stuff, i'll follow it up and see if its ever happened before etc

I just went back to the main forums page as well and was greeted with "welcome back nicko18"

A couple of people found themselves logged in as me some time back. Thankfully and to their credit, they PM'd me to let me know.

From memory, it generally happens with iprimus servers.
 
I've sometimes come onto BigFooty in the past and it said welcome back "another user" but I never tried to go into their user cp. You mean I missed out on reading private PMs? :eek: I know another person that it has happened to as well.

I am afeared of the same thing, FJ!!! What if someone posts something intelligent, then my whole inane dumb image that i have going will be ruined!!! :(

I logged on once using my home PC (connecting through Primus) and came in as Asgardian!
 
This is not an issue with BigFooty.

This is a problem with your ISP, they're using transparent proxies, and there is no way you can get around them (that is why they're transparent).

Best bet is to ring up IPrimus, and tell them that this site is doing these sorts of things, and then they might start excluding it from the proxy.
 
has this happened to anybody else since? i had some wierd stuff happen yesterday, like someone was hacking my computer as i was going through bigfooty!!

links were being clicked and replies opened etc whilst i was just reading.

I've been logged in as other users before, and since so many people have been able to access others' PMs and stuff I thought I'd see if I could too, but was taken to my own instead.

Are you with Iprimus because it always does that. Iprimus have a cache problem

Yeah, I'm with primus and I've been logged in under a few different names, lozstar more often than not and mandy once. I usually don't notice though, because as soon as I try and post something it goes back to Nic.
 
I am sometimes on bigfooty at the uni labs, and when i type in bigfooty.com then click on the forums link, it will say welcome back Prized Bitch. But the thing is when i click on the User CP link, it is my User CP as i recognise my buddy list and threads in which i have posted in recently.

Nah, I'm with primus too and it happens to me from time to time. But I've found (;) ) that you can't actually open any pm's anyway, or post as anyone esle. As soon as you try you're back to yourself.

It's not that big a deal unless some unscrupulous person chooses to copy and paste the subject title/poster of your pm box on another website trying to be funny.

But then, we are talking about people with no other entertainment in their lives..... :rolleyes:
