Stuart Dew, looking sharp!

I gotta admit, I was one of those who scoffed at Dew making a come back, but from all reports, hes coming along nicely, if so, a pretty handy pick up for the hawks! Will he make it? Where and what role will he play? Thoughts?

Not looking too chunky there in the background! Definitely think he is a handy selection! :)

Re: Stuart Dew, looking sharp!

Dew at Hawthorn to me seems like the same situation as Mark Cosgrove at the SA redbacks.

He is a different body shape but on his day he can turn a game and he a real handful.

It was a gamble by the Hawks but they have ayoung list and he could be a great pickup.

Re: Stuart Dew, looking sharp!

i laughed when the hawks took him and wa somewhat pissed they didnt take a player they said they would consider and got an overweight hack instead.

But he is looking the goods and what ive heard of his training you cant fault him seems a like a massive gamble that may pay off

Re: Stuart Dew, looking sharp!

I've got nothing against Dewy but to suggest that this photo shows him to be in good shape is a bit odd. Hopefully he does well this year except against us of course but he's got plenty of work to do before he's in shape.

Re: Stuart Dew, looking sharp!

You're joking right?

If you are comparing apples to apples he is still a lard......

Theres still a fair few weeks until Rnd1 (NAB Cup not important to the hawks i would think). If he keeps going at this rate he will be in good shape. Not his best but i would think pretty close to it. But theres a difference to weight loss and the ability to run out games. That would be the more interesting thing to keep an eye out for IMO. Not just his skin folds.

Re: Stuart Dew, looking sharp!

He looks like he's trimmed down to a Buffalo!
He can train all he likes, if the Hawkes don't have the right dietition in his corner he gunna get no where.
Maybe he should go on this seasond Big fat loser!

Ask Buddy how good it is to have Stuey in your team. He's the one who'll benefit. Stuey receives at half back or on the wing and'll hit buddy on the t*ts off one step.

Spot on Power. And you're more in the know than many here. Stewy is training 5 hours a day. They don't want him going on a rediculous diet because it will drain him of his strength. Think, it is only early Jan.

If he remains injury free he will be a great acquisition. We have many runners in the side. Dewy will be the link man on half forward who will take a step or two and hit Williams, Franklin or Boyle on the lead. That will be his job.

His experience will also be invaluable. Our oldest players are Crawf and Croad at 27.....
