Very talented, but at the moment below his best against the best players of spin around.

Being made a scapegoat by some for an entire teams poor performance.

I am not a Macgill fan but can anyone tell me when the MCG last turned on the first day of a test?

Wait to see what the pitch does on the 4th and 5th days then judge Macgill's performance. I feel a little sorry for him and I agree with catmando's comment about being used as a scapegoat.

You won't see that from this poll, as generally only the anti bother to take the time to vote.

Stuart MacGill is a very talented leg-spin bowler who has done very well for Australia when given the chance, as his career stats will show. However, when you compare MacGill to the greatest ever leg-spinner in Shane Warne, then of course we're going to say that MacGill is crap. The fact is, we're extremely lucky to have 2 great spinners to choose from at the moment... it won't always be the case.

You gotta feel for MacGill.

If he was playing 15-20 years earlier, he'd be an absolute legend.

There are very few spinners to have such a good record over such a prolonged time period.

People complain cause he bowls a lot of crap balls. Please tell me one leg spinner outside of Warne since World War II who hasn't bowled a lot of crap balls...............

Yep, if Macgill played in the 70s he would've been an absolute great, don't think he'd have the impact that Warne had in world cricket, but you gotta feel for the bloke who's born the same era as the greatest wrist spinner the game's seen.

Hauritz, TOTAL LEGEND!!!
Has Hauritz managed to work out how to bowl teams out in the second innings as yet?? He reminds me a bit of Greg Matthews... not quite as good a batsman as Moe, but neither could bowl teams out on the final day of a game with their offies.

One Day cricket ruined Hauritz, he used to flight it up pretty nicely and get good turn, coz he plays so much One Day cricket he starts bowling too flat and too fast, and became a habit in the 4 day game also. Ineffective, need someone to sort him out, or no chance for Test team

I'd be surpsied if Hauritz plays more than 5 tests.

the Australian team has always been looking out for the leg spinners before the off spinner - Grimmett, O'Reilly, Warne, MacGill, Benaud.

The only time offies have got a look in is when there has been no decent leggeis around.

Decent right arm leggies, so Casson doesn't quite count. Apart from White, who isn't that great a leggie, there ain't really any good leggies around.

Casson might get a few tests, but I don't know about left arm wrist spinners.

yea true.

I actually think that Casson could have quite a successful career, but it depends on how things go. Hes definetaly got the talent.

Liam Zammit looks to have some very good qualities baout him, and its a matter of turning talent into performances now.

Well since there's no obvious replacements, would the selectors broke their own policy and actually try to prolong Warne's career as long as they can, because they know there ain't quality spinners who can come through?

Or would they push Warne off the edge, like they did with Ian Healy, Mark Waugh, Steve Waugh, etc etc etc...

Those players had obvious generational replacements. Warne doesn't.

Rubbish. You dont call Dunstall, Ablett or Coventry crap because they scored less goals than Plugger.

Macgill is a very good spinner. Just because he isnt in Warnes class (who mind you is in a class of his own) does not make him crap. It just doesnt make him the best spinner to have ever played.

they'll want Warne to be there as long as possible till someone comes along.

Have to disagree with you about the 70's.

I think the current era is best for him in terms of opposition.

cr.
