i seem to vaugley remember something on the radio this arvo about how the AFL investigation has already found that there is no substance to the allegations, i may have been sleeping but i'm pretty sure i was awake. i thought it would be on the news or something.
 
witchhunt?

It seems to me there is the stench of a witchhunt about this whole thing.If the press seriously believe there is a problem with drugs in the AFL,why are they only focussing on the Eagles?Surely they would not be stupid enough to think only Eagles players could possibly be involved.Why are we not hearing about any "investigations" into the other 15 clubs in the AFL?My daughter has a wide circle of friends and she tells me there would be 90% of her young adult friends and aquaintances who have experimented with drugs.That may only involve tring one joint of "waccy tobaccy".No-one can seriously believe that other young men(other than those wearing an Eagles jumper)have never tried something.

The whole situation seems to be a media beatup - and I want to know why it is the Eagles alone who are being beaten up on ???
It seems some people in this town are trying their level best to destabilise the team.Even a Docker supporter I spoke to yesterday said she gets the same impression.She said she was only glad the media were giving the Shockers a rest this year.In fact,it seems the Shockers are the media favourites this year.Each day we seem to have lovely colour pics and stories of the Shockers in The West. This morning a photo of Connolly and his team of new leaders in their nice suits and ties.How much more clean cut can you get.It only surprises me that there was not a photo alongside of a couple of unshaven and underdressed Eagles !!

AHhh now you know what it has been like for the previous 7 years.

So, in 2009, assuming it continues until then, come talk to me, until such time, chin up ... you sort of tune out after the first 5 or so years anyway ;)

The Dockers' media profile has lifted out of sight since Schwab joined the Dockers. He's probably drawing on his experience at Richmond and Melbourne, who have to sell themselves in a 9-team town
 
Summary of the latest facts:

AFL have said there's nothing to investigate.

Eagles have said they have investigated and there's nothing to declare.

The WA Police have said they have investigated and there's nothing in it.

No detective spoke to the Eagles a year ago as previously reported.

There is no record of two Eagles palyers being involved in a drugs bust or phone tap or anything like it.

I'd say the obvious Sunday Times headline is:
WE WERE WRONG AGAIN - ALL ALLEGATIONS WERE MALICIOUS AND FALSE.

Don't expect to read that tomorrow.

I can't say anything that hasn't been said five times already, but I will say this - it seems that the Sunday Times is quite happy to fling the turds about when it sells papers, but when it comes to actually putting their nads on the block by naming names, they won't do it

I think it's fair enough that they discredited the Sunday Times as bullshit. I hope I never see the day that we start believing every page of tripe that the media puts out without proof. Even if on this one occasion they may have been correct.
 
Would have been hilarious being on here back then. I first joined in 2009 under a different account and it was well into the "we're ****ed, hurry up and rebuild" phase around here.

You can see why a lot of 20-somethings from Perth go for Freo. People who were old enough to realise what was happening but too young to have become loyal to a team (obviously that happens to a lot of us before we can even read though)
 
Stuff me ..... when does the season start! This travelling back in time is due to the quietest build up to a season that I can remember. If it's not about Fyfe it's not news!

Yeah 2006-08 we copped it a fair bit on here. Gunnar did his best to give it back though, the day we won the GF and he bumped every negative thread ever was gloriously petty.
