Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Sumich's forward coaching plan:
1. Kick the ball as long as you can into the forward line
2. kick the ball as high as you can into the forward line
3. Don't isolate 1 on 1s, have a big pack go for the mark
4. Forget about hitting a player up on the lead
5. Forget about crumbing
err.... thats the midfield plan too. At least parts of it :p

Good luck Suma.

Interesting off season indeed.

Burns must be doing a great job. Suma moves on..... I would love to know the real reason.:)

You forgot, if you do leal, lead to the deapest pocket.

We have never had a forward system - good to see a change

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Based on?

Adelaide were very impressed with Burns by all reports.

EDIT - There was also a report that Burns earns more than at least a couple of Senior Coaches.... Wish I could remember the source on that
Well, the media reports at the time said that Burns had the job until he was too critical about the player walkouts and the general state of the list.

Could be a load of shit, as is pretty usual, that's just what was reported.

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Found this funny ha.

Would agree with this move if it was anyone but freo. One would think Melbourne would be more helpful if he really wants to be a senior coach.

I also agree with the scot watters remark, he should probably be our number 1 priority.

I thought Watters was pretty much a shoe in for St Kilda? Or did I miss something there??

Read that one too, whereas Sanderson was a lot more praiseworthy. Hopefully for Adelaide it doesn't end up another Hardwick/Knights situation, however Hardwick hasn't achieved much to date, to be fair to Matthew Knights.

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Sumich is a legend of the club, sad to see him go in some respects but excited to see who they have as the new forward line coach.

So what do you have to say about this Macaa, more unsubstantiated offended potshots about Burns?

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Before anyone jumps down my throat, I know this is highly unlikely but i'm just saying it for entertainment purposes...

I heard MM is in perth today aswell, i believe for a convention of sorts.. but wouldn't it be great if we somehow snatched him up.. again.

He said no job was offered to him at CFC, but he would of gladly accepted a assistant role (then again this is all sketchy).. and i believe he mentioned a few times he loves perth, we'd have the money to offer too.

In saying that i very highly doubt it, but it will be interesting to see who we place suma with..

All the best suma, hope you eventually get the top job your looking for. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Great news, Burns gets a well deserved promotion and we lose a club legend yes but I think he has done all he can here. I'm sure a replacement isn't too far away. Someone like Mark Bickley or a recently retired player like Cameron Ling would be nice.

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

I'm sorry but this is a disgrace. He has gone to the enemy. It's like Mel Gibson telling the Scots to show your arses and then running to the other side and showing them his erect penis.

**** you Sumich. This is a disgrace.

Could not see us picking him up TBH. We need a forward coach, not a director of coaching.

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Surprised.

Wonder if he approached Freo or they approached him. Maybe we wanted to elevate Burns or Walsh to 2IC and Suma decided it was time to move on.

Or maybe Freo just made a better offer.

Wouldn't mind seeing us chase Scott Watters as a replacement for Suma.

This.
Is what seems likely.
Writing was on the wall for Suma, Scott Burns will be the next West Coast coach.
Freo is an easy move for him, same job, but even closer to home.
Too bad freo's forward stocks are looking a bit shit.

Yeah and he's a Freo boy to begin with. Although so is Worsfold.

I'm interested that people are throwing around Burns as our next coach.

Is there some information you guys have that I haven't heard of or is it all just assumptions?

Burns gets 2 yr contract as assistant, Worsfold gets two yr contract as SC and then Burns grabs the reigns? I always saw Worsfold being in for the long long haul.

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Sad to see him leave after 20+ years as a player & coach. Best of luck for him though and sure hope we get a decent replacement in!

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Almost feel like its a stab in the back, but he's been with the Eagles so long its time to move on and go somewhere else especially if he wants to build his credentials to become a senior coach. Thought he'd move to Vic for that not to Freo though.
