Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Definately didnt see this one coming. Looks wrong to see Suma in a dockers shirt :(

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Oh really, or are you just making this up?

Source please.

Burns withdrew by personal choice, what evidence do you have that you aren't just bullshitting and filling in the blanks.

Perhaps WC made an offer to him and that is why he withdrew?

No. just repeating it as it happened.

No skin off my nose if you want to think differently.

Source?? Employeee of AFC.

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Before anyone jumps down my throat, I know this is highly unlikely but i'm just saying it for entertainment purposes...

I heard MM is in perth today aswell, i believe for a convention of sorts.. but wouldn't it be great if we somehow snatched him up.. again.

He said no job was offered to him at CFC, but he would of gladly accepted a assistant role (then again this is all sketchy).. and i believe he mentioned a few times he loves perth, we'd have the money to offer too.

In saying that i very highly doubt it, but it will be interesting to see who we place suma with..

All the best suma, hope you eventually get the top job your looking for. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

i usually like these what ifs but with worsfold at the helm there is no way in hell that could ever happen, too much bad blood over the gf

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

No great loss.

Jumping ship to restart his goal of being an AFL senior coach. Worsfold continuously recommending him but no interest at all from anyone despite having multiple coaching jobs available this year.

He would have thought that staying at WC would not further his coaching desires. Maybe if Fremantle does well next year, he may get some credit and a senior coach position interview.

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Well now, who said our off season would be lacking?

More importantly, a forward line without Ebo and Suma.... what is the structure we go for? Is someone like Burns or Tegue (whoever takes the forwards) going ditch the land of giants and go for a shorter option or two somewhere in there?

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

has done well at our club but hard to judge how good of a coach he is, we had best mid by a mile when he was mid coach, and as forward coach he had some pretty good forwards to work with, dont think it will be that easy over freo

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Any concerns about draft strategy being leaked?

I would of thought joining us after trade week would of been more appropriate.

Not at all. It would be far from finalized and we don't know how much of a role Sumich played in it.

Regardless, teams should be concerned with their own drafting. The fact out picks won't be terribly close together also makes it less relevant.

Damn your logic Spock.

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

If it was a career move, why Freo? You'd think he would want to go to a Melbourne based club. Swapping one Perth club for another doesn't make sense to me.

Family I guess. Suma can broaden his CV without having to up sticks.

Re: Sumich to Fremantle

Why?

We didn't want him as our head coach, we were caught short on the asst coaching front in 2011.

I'll happily welcome him- plus we now have your structures for next time we play.

Care to enlighten us? Not many on here could work out our structures going forward. :D:p

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Plus, Lyon is the closest thing to an experienced coach who has/has almost won a premiership.

Who is there that has won a flag? Woosha, Scott, KS, Clarko? He's learned all he can from Woosh, KS is with GWS partly for the PR aspect but it's a real young list and wont perform in the next few years, Scott has only coached 25 games, and that just leaves Clarko..... in Vic. So really, Freo and Ross Lyon is pretty understandable.

Any forward line with Pavlich, Mayne, Ballantyne, Fyfe, and Griffen/Sandilands could be dangerous if set up right.

It would be a pretty entertaining proposition. He's been coached under Malthouse, coached the Bulldogs (of the Freo variety), and been an assistant to Woosha in a number of successful roles (even if the tools he had played a big part). He needs to do something else less he end up being a career back-up.

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Maybe he has decided an assistants role is his best fit. I think it's 4 clubs said he interviewed well but just fell short. Freo didn't even give him a look in twice. Maybe he realises this and just want to go back "home" which for his is Fremantle.
There is no doubt you will replace him with quality but I think he will be very good fit for us. Your first 2 premierships where largely built on the back of the 2 Fremantle sides and we completely missed the boat because of it. We have never been proactive enough chasing the best from the Fremantle area. High time we did!
Good luck next year should be even more interest in the derbies next year. Oh and I think Pavlich, Fyfe, Mayne, Ballantyne and either of Sandi/Griffen/Keplar/Johnson is enough to keep an opposition defensive coach busy.;)

it was very important that sumich left immediately

although the situation felt shocking for me when i heard the news on radio, it is very important that he left immediately.

sometimes in life the mind feels one needs a change.

maybe he felt he was stuck and life passes by quickly as everyone knows.
if peter did not feel like being at the eagles because of staleness then it is great that he has left immediately

i am shocked by it all, but the eagles are entering a new bludgeoning era with
woosh at the top.

it is important that the new feel that is at the club, goes full steam ahead.

we have tough man scotty burns and kamikaze teague and need a new one with that mindset.

the type of frenetic football that we showed against western bulldogs in perth is where we are heading as a club.

anyone who feels depressed like sumich and ebert had better leave and we thank them for their service.

there are players like stevens, the young wilson who have that fire and momentum in the typical eagles tradition.

the eagles are now in the mode of entering a new era of the next 75 years
and need to pick up someone who is as tough and positive as woosh, burns and teague.
we are also entering a phase of very clever coaches and tacticians in the afl
and the style of eagles play and explosiveness will need to be a science, hey hey.

Re: it was very important that sumich left immediately

well placed bit of condescension there in how others should act. well if you feel so strongly about it, perhaps you should find somewhere else to piddle your thoughts? Otherwise, maybe go easy on what others should and shouldnt do in the world according to garp, si?

Your kidding

Re: Confirmed: Sumich to Fremantle

Give Scott Watters a blank cheque and pay his relocation costs (provided he doesn't get the St Kilda job).

As for Suma, feeling a little betrayed but best of luck to a fantastic long term servant of the footy club. I also think a bit of fresh blood in the coaches box will be a good thing.
