So if we were to buy Joe Hart for probably around 25 million, he would be the second most expensive GK of all time. We're just not gonna do that.

I think the difference between a GK worth 15+ to a GK worth -15 isnt enough to bother spending the cash which is why you see that only four GKers have ever gone for more than 15 million.

You can find bargain prices for real quality GKers. Of course if you want to buy DDG or Neuer in today's world you would be breaking the record fee for a GK but outside of those two, I dont think there is a big enough difference in the next 10-15 GKers to warrant spending so much.

Id rather spend around 10m on someone like Horn, Leno, Trapp than spend 25 on someone like Hart.

EDIT - Having said all that, it's not my money and if Liverpool get all the number one targets we go for in attacking positions, midfield and defense and still want to bring in Hart for 25 million and can afford to do so, then go for it. He's class and I'd love him at the club.

What I was getting at was if that extra 15 million we'd have to spend on Hart instead of say a Horn or Trapp means we miss out on a top CM we were tracking then i'd be annoyed. Like just for example, not saying any of this would really happen but if we could get both Xhaka and Horn or just Hart. I'd want the former.

Hart is a leader and a man who has kept goal for two premier league seasons. Would be a great get for Liverpool, even at £25m.

Berahino and Moussa Dembele at Fulham. I'm not sure if either are still on our radar now though.

Also not sure who we are linked with across Europe - not big on all the speculation as most of it tends to be bollocks.

We were linked with him in January but nothing really came of it. Has a decent record but with the more clubs being linked with him the price is starting to get crazy. I haven't watched any full games of his but my guess is he is in the Bony mould? Perhaps a bit quicker and not as big but a powerful front man?

I'd probably still prefer him to Berahino mainly because he has worked under Poch's mentor Bielsa at Marseille and done quite well. But 30m is a bit much

Keepers are always cheaper than outfield players, and if we sell Hart I think it'll be because he wants out.

I wouldnt be looking to replace Hart anyway. And I don't think he'll leave unless he loses his spot in the team.

Liverpool would be better off going for Butland over Hart imo and that's without taking £25m into account, which I dont think is right anyway. Even with the English tax, the max I could see him getting is £15m or so, even that would be a huge amount.

Butland is probably worth around £6m-£10m and is every bit as good, with a higher ceiling imo. His distribution isn't as good yet, but his shot stopping is ridiculous.

West Ham and us definitely seem the most interested in him. Marseille are a rabble currently, they can mathematically still be relegated, though they are two games clear of 18th and 19th in 15th place with 4-5 games still to play IIRC.

Xhaka is wanted by more PL clubs than just Liverpool

A lot of European clubs will be after him, Marseille are in some financial trouble apparently.

If he does move on for around £15m it would be a large transfer for a guy of his ability imo. He's not even close to the the Neuer and DDG level who went for amounts not too dissimilar (DDG was obviously younger)

He's never been tested in a poor side (I think the lowest he's finished is 3rd) and when the side has been below par, he's often come under criticism in those periods.

I don't think the golden gloves has been won by a keeper outside of the top 4. So it's largely irrelevant when discussing players outside of that range. You have the equal 4th best defence in the league also. Let's not make out like he's been playing for Villa.

In every other one of the seasons he's won the clean sheet award, you had the #1 defence in the league.

Let's not make out something he's not, he's a good keeper, not a great one.
