Need an ironman for that. Bring back Suarez and it's a deal!
So Kane is an ironman

one year wonder some said. Even effectively gave the field an 8-10 game head start and is still leading the golden boot.

Slightly misleading, it's not like he missed 8-10 games through injury he was just crap for the first part of the season. Aguero has played 8 fewer games and is only 2 goals behind, that's giving the field a head start.

Not misleading at all. Both are giving the field a head start. Semantics anyway.

Not really, Kane has has the opportunity to play every game and score in it whereas Aguero hasn't. If anything Kane has had a head start over Aguero in the golden boot. It's not like Kane didn't score for the first 8-10 games either, just not at the rate he has for the remainder of the season.

ie: Taking their goals per game this season and extrapolating it over 34 games (to match what Kane has played), Aguero would have 28.76 goals to Kane's 24. Hypothetically without his head start, Kane would be trailing Aguero by 4/5 goals.

Hence, misleading.

Yeah, hope he doesn't rot on the bench, but can see him expanding his game at Dortmund and becoming a star there
no chance he would be a bench player. I 100% believe that Tuchel sent Januzaj back to MUFC as he knew that Pulisic was ready. Dembele is also ready, especially if we lose Guendogan and Hummels this year. We need to make a statement.

I still cant believe the fee being thrown around though - €5m. Thats piss taking for a player of his potential

Not sure if buying a talented 18yo kid for 5m is making a statement. I think buying someone established who can do the business in either midfield/defence if you lose those guys would be a better "statement"

But it would be funny if he turns out to be just as good as Martial = Man Utd massively overpaying

Will be tough to keep all those strikers happy if LFC sign another one. Only 2-3 can make a match day squad so if all fit 1-2 of Ings, Origi and Batsuyahi don't make the squad. Harsh and waste of Ings to be a 4th choice like that imo

Hopefully any statement doesn't involve those Lukaku rumours floating around

Oliver Torres/Dahoud pls

Weren't we after Ings but he chose Liverpool?

Batshuayi has more suitors than just Liverpool

It's Pato/Xhaka etc all over again imo, agents asking the tabloids to push their clients names out

He isn't on par with keepers like Courtois and De Gea and Buffon. Would be the level below.
why?

cos he is isnt reason good enough. his performances proove he is at their level at the very least.

getting a valdes at barca whif about this. no one actually says why, just that it is

I agree mostly. But look what happened this season. Origi missed chunks of the year, Ings the whole season and Sturridge pretty much half the season. So we were forced to play Firmino as a False 9 as Benteke was out of favour.

We still had Tekkers coming off the bench to try to affect games late in he piece.

Can it happen again? Unlikely, but if we sell Tekkers and dont bring in another forward we risk a repeat. Is Ings unlikely to miss the season again? No. Sturridge though is a walking injury risk. Origi has missed time too.

I guess it's just a calculated risk. With Sturridge and Origi firing now, we dont even have room for Benteke in the squad and Firm is up and about and then if Ings were fit, we would be spoilt for choice.

So we either roll the dice with the injury gods or we replace Benteke.

Is it rolling the dice? We had a perfect storm type scenario this year, Sturridge has ongoing problems that we all know about, but the odds of 3 of those 4 strikers missing more than a third of the season 2 years in a row are slim to none.

You're suggesting we spend significant money on a player that like Benteke would be a contingency plan only to be used in the extremely unlikely scenario that Sturridge, Firmino, Origi, Ings and someone like Gotze (again, if we sign him) were all injured at exactly the same time. That's a doomsday scenario I can't see unfolding and planning for it would be a frivolous waste of money in my opinion.

Where do you stop? 10 strikers just in case your 9th choice tweaks his hamstring? If we get down to bare bones with that much quality and depth in that position then all you can do is rectify it with a stop gap loan in January or a promoted youth player.

Because that's how I feel. I rate him highly, just below those I mentioned.

sigh. alright.

i just dont understand what more he can do until he joins this so called elite bracket. he's a fantastic shot stopper, continually pulls off saves when we need them the most, is confident coming out to claim the ball. his distribution could improve but he's told to launch to ball up field to no one. he's an excellent penalty saver (only man in history to save a lampard, ronaldinho, messi and ibra penalty). i genuinely cannot see any reason why he isn't mentioned alongside buffon, de gea and courtois. probably because he's english and no one's allowed to rate english footballers these days unless they're u/23 or something.

Could be wrong here but hasn't Pellegrini dropped him a couple of times in the last couple of seasons for poor form?

Imo that doesn't happen to the very top keepers

once and it was the best thing to have happened to him. last season he missed 2 games cos pelle would play willy the game before a cup game to get him ready and he has missed a couple through injury this season.

Play for another team I suspect. I don't think we really go out of our way as supporters to over-promote our top players, you see other keepers making stock standard saves and their supporters are jumping up and down shouting world class from the rooftops.

Not really important in the long run. While he maintains his current form, I'm more than happy for him to be considered the 4th or 5th best keeper in the league.

yeah i guess we saw that with barry. suddenly became a top class defensive mid who apparently never showed it at city. ha.

Thought it was more than just once. So it was just one time about 3 seasons ago?
