I knew we were looking at him. Can't complain, has PL experience. Like the way our squad is coming together.

That's now two players in two days.

Hamer on a free, Upson on a free and likely Albrighton on a free.

Apparently we will spend money on a striker, another CB and another winger. Potentially another midfielder if anyone stands out as too good to pass up.

I don't begrudge him one last big pay day at his age. He'll be getting well over the odds for what he's worth wage wise so he'd be crazy not to take it. Doesnt really hurt our squad too much as we've a ready made player to take his spot.

Depends what you consider a big pay day?

He's coming in as squad depth so I very much doubt he'd be on much more than 20-25k a week.

Way the exchange rate has gone your deal (if it still exists) may be more expensive than everyone else.

Well, not worried about the money so much as first refusal to at least get some talks in with him before Barcelona tries to maximise the fee elsewhere

I'd be pretty confident he would check the situation at Arsenal before signing for anyone else. Whether that was part of his contract or not.

Would you definitely be interested at that price? (€40m)

Thats a huge step up from what he would have been getting with us.

Kuszczak was our highest earner and he was on 20k a week and getting a bit more than the next highest earner.

Ahh right, fair enough. I know with our current wage structure, no player is on more than 30k at the moment so he might actually be on less as he's just a squad player.

Either way, I'm happy to acquire him :)

I would hope we are and I guess you guys would be too, maybe even United. You would think he would choose who evers offering the highest wages.
 
di marzio now saying that chelsea/psg agreement is close for 50 mil euros. marquinhos will likely leave and alex will sign on longer at psg

so he'll become the most expensive defender in history (if it goes through) and his best position isn't even as a centreback. congrats psg.

With Arteta and Rossicky both over 30 and not really able to run out a whole season anymore, I'd hope we would be, Fabregas is certainly good enough to be worth that money and already EPL proven.

Put Fabregas into our midfield group with Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey, Walcott, Ox and Wilshere, with Arteta and Rossicky playing bench/cups/relief/cover and we're really only a Yaya Toure CDM type short of a scary midfield.
