Ha ha, I swear on my first day in Sydney a 25yo “soccer mum” got so irate that I was a nano second late at the lights that she full pressed the horn while swerving around me simultaneously giving me the finger and screaming like a banshee. Great life lesson for the 5yo in the back of her car.

Some great people and a disproportionate number of narcissistic assholes

It was never particularly great.

I distinctly remember when Gridiron NSW was 8 Sydney sides plus Central Coast and Wollongong.

They used to winge and bitch that they had to come down the coast on a Saturday morning, Missing players because of their fancy smancy "Private School Sport" and end up getting beat by the poor little South Coast kids. But no one batted an eyelid when we had to brave that bloody Sydney traffic on a Friday night to play on their astroturf carpet burn factory hockey fields.

Locking Sydney completely out of the Grand Final that year was very sweet for us and Central Coast.

I was there in April and I think the best moment of the entire overnight trip was getting back on the plane to come back to Brissy; and I say that as a very proud NSWer.

Probably didn't help that I had to see my friend that moved from up here start to become a "Posh Sydneysider" before my eyes.

Sigh, It's always the sweet and humble ones that get infected first.

Even Engadine is too close, The Real NSW begins at Waterfall.

Weller to undergo second knee reco. Terrible news.
Not like we didn’t see this coming… played 1 or 2 games..

Knee swelling…
Came back

Knee swelling…
Rumours the past few weeks of partial tear…
And now confirmed.

Going to miss his speed and ball use.

Interesting to read King thinks we're a genuine shot at finals. Pretty different message to the one he was putting out last week about trying to keep things simple and trying to ensure the team is competitive. I wonder if he's selling it to the players that if they want to play finals then this is when they need to perform. It worked against the Saints, so hopefully we can continue that against the Giants on Sunday.

You know what they say about giving people a carrot. Dangle it, and they'll follow. Just giving the players something to look towards, because until you are mathematically out of finals, you are within a chance.

Last week was more about keeping the group connected and playing for one another given the tough week. Now they are back on track.

Seems that way. I guess it's also possible that the players now believe that it's possible under King's fresh coaching style, whereas they may not have been as convinced under Dew.

Watching his press conference yesterday it seems more like last week was to respect dew and what he’d done and just bringing the club together and calming the emotions this week seems more finding the positives and what can be achieved if the players get in and have a dig for each other instilling the players confidence that anything is achievable

If last week was about honouring Dew, it’s a bit shit by the playing group, they were awful against Carlton and the Pies and sealed his fate. Playing for him after he has gone would feel like a kick in The balls I imagine

Not honouring by the playing group just King with his words he was careful and respectful in what he said. By listening to him this week I feel some of his thoughts and ideas may have been discarded by Dew previously which Eppo has said many times on here that he’d been told it was a regular thing by many people

I went and watched some of the media following the st kilda loss back in round 4 and was the same things being said in losing games after the bye I can see why the chairman pulled the trigger

Andrew deserves 3rd defender spot over someone like Graham. Has developed more in 6 games than Graham did in 2 seasons. Hope he takes it into next season and cements that spot as he fills out and grows in experience.
Graham has been on our list for five seasons now and I'd say Andrew has definitely gone past him. Collins was also outstanding against the Giants and we all know Ballard's quality. There really isn't a spot for Graham right now and that's probably why a few Vic teams are having a sniff to see if they can tempt him to move. Wouldn't be surprised to see Ethan Read add himself to that key defender depth chart next year either, so it's probably looking a bit bleak for Graham right now. Andrew and Read are very skillful for players of that height and Ballard is arguably an AA defender at his best. Not sure Crab can really compete with that.

The future of our backline with Ballard, Andrew and Read dominating as tall defenders is looking very promising!

Elijah Hollands (Gold Coast)

“Something for Gold Coast to look forward to for the next five weeks was Elijah Holland’s game against GWS.
We had him as the second highest rated player on the ground behind Sam Taylor.
“He has come back into the team over the last couple weeks, he was the second highest rated wingman for the round on the weekend.
“His ball use, he’s just got class this guy.
“Taken at pick seven, he just needs time to showcase why he was taken at that pick.”

"He's had a great first 14 weeks - I don't think many players have had seasons like that off an ACL.
"This was probably coming at some point. He'll bounce back.
"If he takes a couple of early chances, he can break a game open this weekend. He's working through it, he'll be right."
King
"He's down a little bit on confidence," he said.
"You're not going to just keep projecting forward all the time, you're going to come up against some really good players. That's part of Benny's growth.
"He's had some challenges already and faced some adversity which he's overcome, and this is just another little bump in the road which is going to make him stronger and more resilient.
"He'll get his way through this and come out the other side."
"We'll back him in. We'll give him some freedom to get up the ground and move up the ground and use his athleticism," he said.
"I think that's something he's got an advantage over most other people of his height and size."

King

“He’ll be right” is some real head in the sand stuff. He might break the game open and go on a tear, but a month of below par footy is not ok and needs to be addressed as a club standard. King had a solid first half of the year, no denying that, coming off an ACL. He should be a 45 goal plus player, but has dropped off badly.

I would 100% back King in too… if we didn’t have performing forwards in the VFL who could try his role.

Agree. Two blokes in the ressis leading the Frosty, kicking bags every week and they can’t even get a sniff of a senior game.

They are scared to drop king. He must have photos of someone, because his game against GWS was putrid.

I reckon it’s a combination of the kitchen sink Hawks offer, sacking the coach and the frenzy that would be created by the Melbourne media. Club walking on egg shells.
