This is what ive come to now. Still subject to changes. Apart from Lynn and the 2 cheap batting options in Turner and Hughes, im actively avoiding batters and batting allrounders like Maxwell & Short. Instead my allrounders (Curran/Sams/Garton) are most likely to get their points by bowling and if they can produce cameos with the bat too, then they should score very well. I think that is slightly safer than relying on an inconsistant Short or Maxwell. Obviously both can bowl but the majority of their points come from batting.

Not sure about Hinchliffe or Sutherland but i like Short, Gilkes and Kann

At least it's letting you select 3 emergencies🤣

Excellent strategy imho

Thoughts on Aaron Hardie? Came back yesterday with wickets (undisclosed how many) and 83 with the bat in the Perth warm up
Excellent option if fit

Excellent strategy imho
I think its partly a mentality but also its playing the odds. On average, the bowlers and bowling allrounders will score much more consistantly. It is all well and good if you can get a batsman on a hot streak but if you choose the wrong one you lose points and $. I guess it is all about how much risk you want to take on and whether you can wear the crap scores from expensive batsmen and keep them till they actually perform well and then realise that benefit. Honestly id much rather cop an average bowling score than a batsman getting out before reaching 10. At least the bowler is in the game for (hopefully) a full 4 overs.

I also think that batters are more likely to either get out early or go on to score big with less middle ground than bowlers. It seems like most batters push on if they survive the first few overs they are out there. Thus, their projected score doesnt increase in a linear fashion, its more like an exponential pattern. In lay-mans terms, they either get out early and score crap (more often than not) or go on to score huge. What this says is that you are more likely to cop a crap score than a middle-range or massive one. This also ties into the scoring system given points for hitting 50 and 100 and strike rate bonus after certain amount of runs. Its true that the massive scores can make up for the really shit ones but on average you endure more crap scores than huge ones.

Obviously given strike rate bonuses it is better to get a fast scoring batter than a slow one. Fast scorers can reach that middle ground more often as if they can reach 20 runs they get the boost. Playing devils advocate, because of the scoring volatility, on average more batters should be available at lower prices than bowlers...which makes them more attractive!

Anyway, tl;dr is that bowlers and allrounders are more consistant than batters so id much rather start with them than take a risk on a high priced batsman. There will obviously be exceptions to the rule!

Tymall Mills back in the BBL at 125k

Was quite poor in the past but he has improved since then and is in England’s best XI these days

EDIT: also updated the pinned fixture post. Renegades and Thunder both have 1 DGW late in the season. Also made it an image rather than a table, as it doesn't read well on mobile as a table.

Bolded players should bowl 4 overs. Underlined a chance to bowl some overs
*Expect the Thunder to sign Whiteman

That Strikers batting line-up is very weak. Likewise Brisbane heat
Sixers the team to beat yet again.
Finch?

Thoughts on Patterson as a cheap batting option?

This is the team I settled on after only starting research this week.

Clarke is the moving piece at this stage if I want to upgrade one of those bench players to Hughes.

Couch in as placeholder for any 42k playing rookie if there is one.

He's there as a Dual Position punt looping option for VC, Batsmen. Always find rolling with 1-2 of those for BBL is extremely important. Could go with Finch but I'd ideally like to bring him in when he starts playing and utilise the 20k elsewhere.

Anything wrong with this? Will be able to check 6ers team to make sure Kerr and Manenti get a gig and loop them on if they get off to a flyer

Is Bazley vs Bartlett a flip of the coin?

Pending any selection issues, will be running with this side. Reckon with NCN out that Stoinis will be bowling.
4 Heat players is probably one more than I would have wanted but I can get rid of 3 of them for the next round. All of my starting XI have byes in the first 4 rounds as well.
I missed all yesterday's news
.why is NCN out?

Finally put a team together, was very tempted to give it a miss this year as the whole COVID situation will find a way to blow up any sort of planning that you put into your team. Also was finding it very hard to work out who is and isn't available, it seems like Aus A players aren't playing the first couple of games despite that game being called off.

Anyway, the team that I put together in 5 minutes is above.
