So any pelicans now?

Dunno, I'm sitting in an airport lounge in London, coming back for prelim and hopefully gf. I have taken a massive gamble and cut short family holiday to come back early, leaving hubby and daughter No 2 to travel some more... buggers better win after me putting in "great effort"

(I should have qualified that by saying it only counts when we travel to Subi for a game)

Whipped this up today.
I wondered what this was the best thread to put it on, & reckoned this one...
I may put it on a t-shirt to wear at the game on Saturday night... Or would that be bad luck?

OK, i had to get this off my chest.

Been a long time supporter (from the start), never became a member as lifestyle, moving away, working away, etc all compounded but i still get tickets a couple times a season to watch a few games when the Planets all line up.

Anyways this season i have been to 3 games, courtesy of my Mum winning the Ultimate footy fan competition through the Sunday times. She got her 60 inch plasma and bar fridge, i got the tickets to see a trio of games (even took mum once as she'd never seen live footy, coming from Thailand). It doesn't end there..

I also ran into a bit of luck, I snared my work's EPL tipping competition, with a princely sum for 1st place being $5100.00. I swore black and blue that with the proceeds of those winnings, I was going to the AFL Grand final.

Fast forward a few weeks (around june/july), a family member ran into a few dramas, laid off work and went through a work drought. Now said family member having a young family of their own, was pretty much on the bones of their laurels, was too proud to ask for help. But being Family I didn't take no for an answer and decided to help out and use my good fortune on the family. No grand final package, no travelling to Melbourne, but it was the right thing.

In a twist of Fate, I had done a good deed and was in a weird sense of balance in the universe i hadn't really lost anything nor gained personally, but helped a far greater cause. Im still undecided if the Dockers making the Grand Final is a weird kind of "Murphy's Law", a reward for a good deed, or just one of those weird coincidences, or even possibly the lacky band effect of good luck snapping back hard. My family are still quite guilty I won't be going as i don't really have a life outside of work, no missus, no real hobbies and not much of a social butterfly despite being in my late 20's. Yet it was for the best.

For the record, Said family member got a great job several weeks later and is back out of the doldrums. Im not a big believer in superstition, i am a man of faith in a higher being but I am a realist too.

I thought I'd share because its fascinating to me personally, Being torn on a few fronts yet being overwhelmed that everything is working out despite the path having a few more turns than necessary.

Great stuff mate, lets just see if we can (via BF) yet organise a ticket for you to the big dance.

I'd offer mine up but it is already committed.

So, anyone else out there got a potential ticket for SCHNOOODSie... ??

I couldn't accept, i couldn't take the time off work at such short notice and i am never one for charity in all honesty, I'd rather starve before i beg.

I'm just happy Freo are going there and No doubt i'll be the loudest and biggest supporter at the local cheering on.

Hey all, My wife is a long time dockers supporter (even an inaugural member) although living in the country we cant make any games and therefore not members.

If anyone has tickets that they can not use it would be greatly appreciated if you can let me know. We are willing to pay cost price plus any extra to cover any charges taht need to be charged!

Very desperate as we have booked flights and accommodation and dont want to waste all that money!

Stupidity or valid fear?
Magical thinking works people, stay the hell away from your flagpole
nan_11 it won't be a waste of money being there, for the true supporter, just the atmosphere of the purples descending will be awesome
I'll be there in fed square being feral on Saturday in my grubby guernsey (can't be jinxing things now), but sure, if there are people out there who want a rabid country (SA) docker supporter to have a ticket, pick me!!!

oh, and no taking photos of us leading at 3/4 time, i have seen us play the Hawks at the G a few years ago and they ran over us in the 4th after we looked the goods most of the game

Just went to my folks house to pick up my GF tickets,on leaving she said you have to take my lucky freo scarf.
I said why the lucky scarf, background,it went to the the EF in 2012 and then to the QF in 2013.
Problem is it's an old persons looking scarf,I don't know if I can take it though.
