Interesting that Liam Kolar is still nowhere to be seen for any team.

Nicholas Couroupis sounds good from some Match reports on draft central. Although it's pretty much impossible to find his measurables and birthdate...

Nicholas Couroupis
West Adelaide | Midfielder

Stats: 25 disposals, 6 marks (4 contested), 3 tackles, 5 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 3 rebound 50s, 1 goal

Our scouts said: “Couroupis was outstanding for the Bloods, arguably their best performer on the day. The midfielder was aggressive at the ball and at his opponents throughout the game, and his marking ability was definitely a highlight.” – Tom Cheesman

Verdict: It was somewhat of a breakout performance for Couroupis, and his lift in output could be a timely one for the struggling Bloods midfield. Having also turned out for the Henley Sports Academy during the week, the Year 12 student should have his hands full with plenty more opportunities to impress. Midfielders with points of difference are always important, and Couroupis’ ability to mark overhead was good to see. It should put him in good stead for a more consistent output.

21 Nicholas Couroupis

Couroupis was outstanding for the Bloods, arguably their best performer on the day. The midfielder was aggressive at the ball and at his opponents throughout the game, and his marking ability was definitely a highlight. He took six marks (four contested) including a brilliant pack grab in the opening term. Couroupis regularly provided an option for the Bloods coming out of defence and was strong at stoppages against a talented Panthers midfield. He finished with 25 disposals, five clearances, three tackles and a 55-metre goal from a set shot.
Seems aggressive... tough nuts always welcomed...

But no Callow or Baldwin, and that despite our obvious need for a young KPF or two on our list. Really says something about how they rate their chances of making it at AFL level.

What's the obsession with Callow and Kolar or whatever his name is? They're mentioned here all the time but no club even wants them.

The club obviously rates CCJ highly and are giving Chol one last chance given he's still 23. We will pick up a couple more talented forwards next year I would imagine.

Not sure why there is an obsession with us bringing in KPP types for the train on squad. As we head into the 2021 season we have:

Colina 21 years old
Ryan 20 years old
Soldo 24 years old
Chol 23 years old
CCJ 21 years old
Nankervis 26 years old
Miller 21 years old
Nyoun 19 years old
Balta 21 years old

Bold - established seniors

Who are all +194cm KPP/Ruck types on the list. Soldo will miss the season most likely, but the rest of them will be available and for the most part will need the chance to show what they can do as we search for the replacements of Riewoldt and Astbury in particular. IMO we'll see Chol & CCJ get a chance at being Jacks replacement while Miller & Nyoun may get a chance at being the replacement for Astbury, with Garthwaite although slightly shorter at 192, also a chance.

The obsession is apart from Balta every one of them has as a question mark including in various combinations physical durability, recovery from very serious injury, what their actual position is, the go home factor and will they actual make it. Balta is the only one that you'd bet your house on going forward.

Plus KPFs take serious time to develop and Riewoldt most probably only has one year left at best. So unless we want to potentially sell the farm to get one, it's better sooner rather than later to get a blue chip KPF prospect on the list.

Still even an self-confessed obsessor like myself has to admit there isn't that much you can do about it when the remaining key position prospects are rated so lowly by the club they aren't even worth being invited to train. Still it's the off season and you gotta talk about something I guess? :expressionless:

CJ plays well up fwd. Miller did play fwd in the VFL grand final. Caddy has KPF traits i.e. good mark & kick. Chol is on the list for this reason. Emergency use. Nank even. If Jack or Tom is out any of these options are better than concussion prone McCartin.
Nick V goes forward. Caddy comes in around the wing, pushing both ways, and we patch up the backline. Mac being a likely candidate. Doesn't address the longer term but. Longer involves one or more of the players you have mentioned improving their senior game!

Balta even has question marks about where his best position is. Plays equally great as KPD and back up ruck. When CCJ, comes into the 22. If he can be incrementally better than Chol then he should be OK. Chol does feature in the years highlights videos a bit. But I think his ruck skills are sub par. we really need to see CJ''s development as ruck/KPF this year, cos if Nank gets injured we are in trouble. CJ and Chol play the KPF role well enough
Any KPF we took in the draft this year is not going to be playing senior footy for years anyhow. The day Riewoldt retires I'd use his wage to bring in an established KPF. Players shift clubs so easily these days. Like Jack Higgins.

Unsure if this is legal, happy to be shot down, but based on Hodge to Bears - Soldo to long term injury list, Kreuzer recruited for 12 months with the understanding he not need play every week (a'la Otto at the cats). Tigers aim to get and keep him fit for the latter and pointy end of 2021.

Want this for the 2021 tall "gap", a little bit for the touted Cotchin friendship and a lot for the export tonnage Carlton salt that will be soooo heaped should this happen. I still have 1982 GF scars.

Is there a limit to how many can be invited to train? I wonder if there's still more to come.

Or perhaps those talls we're interested in (Baldwin, Callow, Kolar) have accepted invites to other clubs that afl.com.au haven't reported yet.
$1k per week per player might be a factor as well under the current circumstances.

FA for KP's is the best option.

What Balta's best position is a first world problem. It's a great to have a young kid that could be great at both ends. Everyone else is iffy, maybe, hopefully or should be etc. And true players do move, but a quality KPF at what cost? My obsession about Riewoldt succession is only second to my obsession about not expending most of our draft pick windfall all on on a single player, unless like a King that player is truly exceptional.

Anyhow quite apart from if we can threepeat, it is going to be fascinating next season to see how all these players go. It will be a brave person to say that Nankervis won't spend at least some time on the injury sidelines so we'll get to see all of them in action. We'll be unbelievably wiser come next trade period as to where we are.

So lowly by all clubs that is that they arent even on training lists , that says something of the qty of kpp stock and why we’ve invested in 21 draft instead

How many bloody rucks do we need on our list , worst idea ever , you d think we have no one to ruck with soldo out

2020 we saw KPFs Cameron move and Hogan swap clubs to replace him. If we had've needed a KPF this year, either of those 2. But I think Riewoldt's game was down a bit in 2020. Being home in Melbourne will be a positive for his game. At a pinch I'd play Caddy if JR was injured. I wouldn't be offering our 2 first round picks for anyone. I'd like Tom Green at the club but wouldn't go crazy. Himmelburg isn't a bad player, again not worth 2 first rounders.
