Swan for me thanks.

Averaging more disposals, inside 50's, clearances, better disposal efficiency.

Can also handle a tag.

good bloke......
Consistancy is the reason Swan is better.

Swan is good and having a great year in a great side, but IMO, he's not even in the same league as Hodge.

Swan has had an exceptional 3year in a row.

2008: nearly snuck in to win the brownlow and was'nt even invited.
2009: broke the record for most disposals in a single game and for the year
2010: speaking for itself.

He is most definately in the same league as hodge, but having said that i do believe hodge will poll better this year......

The brownlow is almost irrelevant when arguing a players worth.

I totally agree, you can have a stella year with major impact for you team but still not poll well.

My core arguement still stands up though, he's been massivley consistant by having three great years in a row and is definately in the same league as Hodge.

So he would let an out of form Ryan O'Keefe kick 4 goals on him?

Swan has never played on someone like ROK so we'll never know. Swan attracts the dribblers.

As for the Brownlow, Collingwood have won more games than Hawthorn so Swan should poll better.

Yes, Gary Ablett is a dribbler. The fact that an out of form Ryan O'Keefe completely deconstructed Hodge, shows how unaccountable Hodge is.

Brett Ebert was making a mockery of Hodge a week earlier.

Mate, that's deadset the most ridiculous claim i've read so far. In what way is Hodge better than Swan? As stated above, Swan is averaging more disposals, clearances, disposal efficiency than Hodge. Even kicked more goals than him. If you haven't watched any of his games, he is tearing sides to shreds. Teams have tried tagging him with little success (Ling, Carrazo, Jones).

To say that he isn't in the same league is ridiculous. If anything, he is ahead of Hodge (not taking anything away from Hodge, champion player)

Swan is easily the best midfielder this season.

I find it pretty hard to believe that Ablett was tagging Dane Swan last night.

Yes, Hodge didn't play well yesterday and let a star like ROK run free, which is criminal.

Hodge was tagged by Kane Cornes last week, one of the best taggers in the game. Gibson was on Ebert IIRC.

I understand Swan has better statistics than Hodge. So does Priddis from WCE. Swan is a ball magnet.

Swan might be faster but Hodge is better at absolutely everything else.

I've said this on the Hawthorn Board already, but Swan will win the Brownlow for mine.
Well, at least he should.

Hodge has had a few down games of late, and there's concern he's carrying something.

Different players, both guns. Swan is more Robert Harvey and Hodge is more Mark Ricciuto. Swan definately more consistant, not sure stats are that revelant though. Hodge isn't a good enough runner to get Swan like stats week in week out but makes up for it by being much more versatile. As a midfielder you'd probably have Swan for consitancy, as a footballer you'd have Hodge.

This game is why Swan is better. Doesn't happen to Swan...

Swan doesn't get tagged. Even against Carlton, Carrazzo only had him for about 20 minutes.

Hodge has beaten plenty of tags this year, including

Ling twice (held judd to 7 disposals in a half)
Brent Reilly (held Ablett to 19 Ablett possessions, Watson to 3 kicks)
Matt Thomas (tagged Judd)
Clinton Jones (held Brent Harvey to 8 touches)

etc

Against Collingwood the taggers have gone to other players.

i.e

Clinton Jones to Didak
Cameron Ling to Pendlebury
