I see many have named Jetta in the best 22 which ok, but is he ahead of Rohan?

Does Jetta wear a mouthgaurd? I hope he does as I can just see him getting crunched this year for some reason.

I'd say he is. Older, fitter, played plenty of WAFL seniors. Rohan has shown heaps, more than many of us could have expected, but fitness is an issue, and he's still developing physically.

Here is the long awaited Wolfie's Swans 2010 Preview in the same format as the Swans AFL website, but much better done.

I/C: Trent Dennis-Lane
Daniel Hannebury
Lewis Roberts-Thomson
Patrick Veszpremi

Most Important Player:
Adam Goodes:

Moved up forward last year due to Barry Hall's continuing brain snaps and proved to be a revelation up forward kicking 38 goals at Centre Half-Forward. Will continue to play there throughout 2010 to provide the Swans forward line with some experience. Started slowly this pre-season, but has gradually build up some form. Is crucial to the Swans chances of making the top 8 and it'll be interesting to see how he will cope with having the oppositions number 1 defender on him, week in, week out. If he can kick at least 50 goals in his new role, the Swans will be primed for another finals series in Paul Roos final season as coach.

Up and Comer:
Heath Grundy:

Had a breakout season in 2009 after being moved into defence permanently in 2009 and held his spot throughout the season and proved some doubters in the process wrong. Is capable of playing on the tall and small forwards and provides plenty of run from defence. Nearly took Mark of the Year against Port Adelaide @ the SCG. Kept Saints champion forward Nick Riewoldt to 1 goal in the Swans loss to the Saints in their recent NAB Cup game and is set to improve even further in 2010. I have no doubt, that he'll take the full back position from Craig Bolton in the forthcoming years.

Needs a big year:
Jarrad Moore:

After a breakthrough season in 2008, where he played 23 games and kicked 25 goals, Moore dropped in form in 2009 and only played 16 games and kicked 14 goals. In 2010, he needs to recapture his form, as he'll most likely lose his spot to either Gary Rohan, Lewis Jetta, Trent Dennis-Lane or even Paul Bevan, who are faster and more committed. Was an emergency for the 2005 Premiership win and needs a big year for him to keep a spot on the senior list.

Thoughts on 2010:

The Swans can make the 8, but it all depends on their new look forward line and whether or not, the risk in drafting Daniel Bradshaw from the Brisbane Lions pays off. If it does and Adam Goodes fires up forward, I cannot see why the Swans cannot make the 8. A top 4 spot, is unlikely but, the Swans would be happy for the bottom part of the 8. Tadhg Kennelly's return will give the Swans an added boost in defence and the Swans defence will have to be their strength in 2010. They have strong depth in defence and they need to capitalise on this. With the youth that was drafted and the kids that showed potential late last year, you can see why many Swans supporters are optimistic about their chances. A finish in the lower reaches of the top eight looks achievable.

*Disclaimer:
I did our best 22 before the NAB Cup, so it may not be correct, but it was I thought it would be at that stage.

Again, I don't think Vez has ever been near our best 22.

You and your anti-Veszpa sentiment makes a grown man (me) and baby jesus cry. :o :p

You're right...he's played what, a handful of senior games, at best? People can rate him all they like, but he's had very few chances in AFL.

Veszpremi has had less time, but shown far more than the likes of Ed Barlow, yet Barlow seems to have more people on here springing to his defence.

Vez has his issues, but I'm more than happy he's on Sydney's list and hope he stays there for some time to come.

Ves has his issues, but not through a fault of his own. He trains too hard and apparently has to take some weight off, I read somewhere else on this board. You can't knock him for his work ethic. I'm pretty confident, he'll come good. More so, than I was with Daniel O'Keefe.

I think more people spring to Barlow's defence because more people attack him in the first place. Nobody is calling for Vespa to be delisted, everybody, whatever your opinion of him, knows that he still needs time before we can be expected to truly judge.

Barlow on the other hand is far more divisive, so those that support him are called upon to do so more often.

Surely at some stage of pre-season training one of the coaches should have noticed his rapidly increasing muscle mass and told him to ease off ? It sounds like no-one noticed until he ran out for a practice match and was so top heavy his legs buckled and he collapsed under his own weight.

"Quick, help him out of his guernsey"
"I can't. It's so tight it seems to be glued to his skin"
"Don't just stand there Horse, get the team scissors"

Horse gallops off to the training rooms.

"Here Paul"

cut..cut...hack...hack...saw...saw...

"No use. It's like it's stuck on"
"Horse, get the team chainsaw"

Horse gallops off again (muttering - "Horse do this, horse do that" "Hmmph. When I'm coach....")

Horse returns with the club chainsaw

"Still no use Paul. It can't cut through"
"Try starting the engine Horse, it cuts better"

Wrrraaannngg, daaang, daaannng, daaaaannng

"Not too deep now. Watch the arms"
"There, got it" (Wipes some of the blood away)
"Whoaaaa!. Horse, look at this kid's torso"
"What the ...? He's ripped like Arnie on steroids"
" Errr, I think Arnie was on steroids Horse. The question is why wasn't anyone monitoring this boy in the gym ?"
"I blame myself. I should have seen it. The fake tan, the Hummer, the Austrian accent, the bad acting, the often contradictory environmental statements...."
"Never mind all that Horse. What the f^*k are we gonna tell BF members for their injury list ?"
"Errr....Veszpremi - 6 weeks - suspected schwarzenneggerisation of the upper torso ?"
"Not to mention severe chainsaw like lacerations to the chest, shoulders and stomach"

haha I thought youd gone all serious with your fantastic post in the Hall thread, then I read this gem.

My sentiments exactly, great post made me laugh...:thumbsu:

Whie Rohan has shown enormous potential I don't think he will play seniors straight up.Apparantly he is still cramping in the pracice matches so he will need to do lots of game time in the two's IMO.

Really? I hadn't heard. If thats the case then he may well be left out of the round 1 team. Whats your source?

He had enough juice left to make an impact in the 4th quarter against the saints.

Look, if you were there at the time all this happened, you should've let us know earlier.

(Very funny, by the way.)

No mouthguard mate, just green boots and a beautiful RED & WHITE strip like South Fremantles.
The mouthguard was deemed an unnecessary health risk due to the G-Force he generates whilst running, and the very minimal likelyhood of any slob on another team being able to land a cheap shot on something they cannot see.:thumbsu:

My source is EXTREMELY reliable.
He cramped up in the third and came back in the fourth on Friday!!!!!!

Thanks Bez. We all need to lighten up a bit sometimes.

Thanks Monsieur Bateman. To be honest I wasn't actually there but I kind of pieced the 'true' story together from snippets on this board, Tammy's blog, groundkeeper Willy, a cute blonde nurse at St Vincents and the guy in Kings Cross who services the team chainsaw.

Will Vezpremi will 22 games barring injury this year???

I doubt it. As a big fan of Vespa, I am predicting, he'll play around 15 games and pick up a Rising Star nomination in the process. :thumbsu:

Not 22 H&A games, given he's not in the mix for a round one senior game. If the Swans go deep into finals its not inconceivable that he'll play around 20 or so games, but he will need to blitz it in the reserves early in the season to overtake 4 or 5 players ahead of him in the queue.
