Roos has traded for Seaby and looks like getting Mumford as well.

Where does that leave Pyke and Currie? I wonder if he sees the forward line like this

HF: Goodes White Johnston
FF: Vezspremi Currie Moore

And perhaps sees Pyke playing a running, marking half back?

Swap Johnston and Currie. Then swap Currie with Ablett. That will probably be our forward line.

Mumford and Seaby would start the season as picks 1 and 2 in the ruck. Pyke would probably be first backup. Currie still needs time to develop.

structurally we'll want Goodes to be at CHF, White at FF

Currie and Johnston... may get games, may not... probably will be in and out of the side regularly in 2010.... shouldn't expect to much

Pyke is squeezed out.... should be dropped back to reserves to learn how to play the defensive role.... hard to give him a position in our starting 22, when he doesn't kick (at all)

I don't think it is fair to say he doesn't kick at all - he kicked a few bags of goals in the reserves - but obviously there is room for improvement.

I would say that right now there is more reason to believe he will get game time next season than there is to believe that Currie, and to a lesser extent Johnston, will .

Marking half back, he can't even mark !

Well we seem to be running with 5 ruckmen. I would have thought we'd be hoping to see senior spots for at least 4 of them, and I include Currie in that. If Pyke isn't still improving, then why are we bothering? In any event, I would expect to see a lot more development from him after another pre-season.

I was more thinking about Currie, though. Is he now being considered as a full forward? He has apparently spent a fair bit of time there in the Ressies. White showed quite a bit across half forward I thought and is pretty athletic. I like Goodes on the flank with his agility, speed, fitness etc, it's a more versatile position.

HF: White Goodes Johnston
FF: Vezspremi Currie Meredith

Moore is better in the midfield

On an interview last week Roos mentioned Goodes,White,Johnston,Meredith and Vez as kicking our goals next year. The last spot can be taken by Currie/Playfair (of not delisted) or one of Bevan/Ablett/Thronton

Geeezzzzzzz Put Fev in there and it lets Goodes roam around the middle where he's best..

Last year you were plugging him where needed and in the forward line with the missing Hall..and others...

But I guess last year we did the same with Pav in the middle instead of Forward line...

Fev is your instant Fix.

goodes does well up forward.... i'm happy for the club to persist with him up there

he polled most of his brownlow votes this year whilst playing in the forward line

and he did kick a career high of 8 goals up forward at some stage last year.... who was that against again? ;)

Without Fev:

F: Johnston White Veszpremi
HF: Bevan Goodes Meredith

Bevan playing the role that NOG did at the end of the year. I reckon Bevo can do it better.

I don't see Johnston getting a game till about halfway through the season. He was out most of this year with his foot, so depending on his pre-season I rekon Roos will have in the 2's to get some match fitness. Having said that, if the Goodes/White combo get's off to a flyer he may struggle to get into the forward line. Maybe he'll get a run in defense first. Put him on Reiwoldt and learn some tricks!:footy:

I think Goodes, White and Johnston can all play in the forward line together (as it worked fine with Goodes, White and O'Loughlin at the back end of the 2009 season).

I really do want to see Johnston in the team come Round 1 as i think that a Goodes/White/Johnston forward line could be quite potent.

anyone think we are a chance of pursuing nathan brown in the psd?

don't think he was the player he used to be, but could be a handy lead up option (think nick davis or mickey o) in the forward line... could be worth a punt for a few yrs as jesse develops?

i also heard brad fisher from carlton may be out of contract? he would still be relatively young and could be a handy addition to the forward set up.

thoughts?

I think we should really stop looking at our Forward line! We now have McGlynn and with Goodes, Johnston and White up there with possibly Butcher to come i think we are in a great position!

We need to look at our backline! That is why i would quite like to look at Cameron Wight from the dogs... delisted and at 200cm the 24 year old could turn into a respectable Key Position Backman.
