The big win has opened up the (slim) possibility of the Demons avoiding the wooden spoon. If you win your last two, you won't finish last at the expense of likely the Warriors.

• The Gumbies and Warriors can still make finals, although they need a large number of other matches and factors to go their way. Both are the very definition of a 'mathematical chance'.
• 34 premiership points is the current figure that guarantees finals. 32 will be enough for some teams, but not necessarily all, with nine teams so congested on the ladder.
