Sydney overturn 36 players in tumultuous off-season
Sydney finally announced their 2007 list today, with 16 new faces after a crazy off-season cleanout by coach/president John Crumbs. After finishing last in 2006, changes were expected, but nothing to this magnitude!
Even after the poor finish, Sydney found themselves struggling to make the salary cap after recruiting some big names early in the trade period, and the result is a rookie-list reduction from 6 to 2 players in 2007.
The big name signings unveiled today were headlined by Nick Dal Santo and Dane Swan, with Chris Hyde, Tim Clarke and Daniel Ward recruited to bolster the midfield ranks, and Brian Harris signed to fill the vacant full-back void left by the walking out by Dustin Fletcher. Dane Swan was acquired with the Number 1 Draft Selection, along with Nick Maxwell.
Players to have left include Heath Black, Matthew Lloyd and Chris Knights along with the retirements of Rohan Smith and Dean Rioli
