Anyone currently watching? Stosur is up against Zvonareva and won the first set 6-1 and is up a break in the second 4-3. Stosur played brilliantly in the first set and it was one of the best sets I’ve seen her play. Her serve was effective, he ground strokes accurate and she won something like 85% of points at net.

Some great matches to be played later today. After the Stosur game Tomas Berdych is up against Australian Robert Smeets. Then a great women’s match with Hingis playing Jelena Jankovic. Then last years Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis is in action.

Gooch will win easy

He'll run into the seeds early and won't get far.

Stosur has as much potential as any other women on the tour.. its just that she lacks consistency. She puts massive top spin on the ball and has a great serve. When she becomes more consistent she can be right up there.

So should i put money on him to win the Aus Open? Good odds i'd imagine.
Rooster, Robert is doing a fine job

narrowly lost the first set and is up a break - innexperiance and nerves cost him the first set, looking so much better in the second

looks like weve unearthed a tallent :):thumbsu:

Well Berdych is really, really struggling out there. Won the first set 6-2 but Smeets is serving for the set at 5-4. This is the worst I’ve seen Tomas play and I’m surprised he’s so out of touch considering he has just come from the Hopman Cup. He’s racking up the Unforced Errors, his shot selection has been poor and he looks a shadow of the player he normally is. Smeets has been impressive but if Berdych was on his game this game would have been over long ago.

Well he went down in the end, too many errors and in mens tennis you can't get away with serving 9 double faults unless you are serving a heap of aces to go with it.

I doubt he will do much... Berdych is 21 as well.. ranked 12... Berdych didn't even seem to try out there... The one that we will be waiting for is Bernard Tomic whos the worlds best 14 year old.

They are putting too much pressure on young Tomic, expecting a 14 yo to become the next aussie tennis champ... im sure there have been plenty of players who have dominated juniors but cant cut the chicken once they reach the pro tour. Its like Carlton and their reliance on Gibbs to win them a flag next season.

I don't think that's right. Didn't Carlton just want Gibbs to win them a game next season?

whatever happened to Todd Reid? Wasn't he supposed to be the next superstar, turned out a total dud
