Just wondering everyone elses opinions, do you believe we would have a fair bit of coin in reserve. With Bradshaw, Tadhg & Bolton gone. ROK, Goodes & Bolts would be on the veterans list now so that would save some coin as well.

So really how much financial room to wiggle do we really have? I can't see many of our players being big $$$, Mummy is on decent coin but not massive. McGlynn and Kennedy would fall under the same category, though I do see Kennedy going up in price now.

We would have considerable room under the cap, but have a few young players who will be looking for notable increases over the next 2-3 years.

Yeah, I'd prefer any cap room was used to tie up Reid, Rohan, Hanneberry etc with long term front loaded contracts.

So would I, just meant I see a few clubs over cap etc or very tightly capped. I though we would of been pretty breezy with what we have.

Can't you only have 2 listed veterans with the 50% salary cap discount? Goodes would have to be 1, as he is our highest paid.

As stated front load as many of the developed youngins contracts we can rather than splash for a star.

If thats the case, i think it would be Goodes and ROK then.

I believe you can have up to four players on the veterans list.

However, the percentage of money out of the salary cap goes down the more players on the list.

EG, if we have two players on the veterans list, 50% of the money they earn is outside the cap.

If we have three players on the veterans list, 33% of the money they earn is outside the cap.

If we have four players on the veterans list, 25% of the money they earn is outside the cap.

That is my understanding anyway.

Mumford is on 250 a year thats bargain basement for a ruckman like him

So you're basically better off just having your highest paid veteran as the only 1 on the list?

I think it's 50% for the first player as well. Doesn't start going down until there is 3 players on the list.

So yeah it's better to only have your top 2 earners on the list.

Whatever we got it'll be hopefully going to re-sign Reid.

Kennedy will also be expecting a payrise for 2013 but with Jude most likely playing his last season next year we should be alright.
