haven't beaten essendon at melbourne since 1989 but we could do it. most people are saying that we will lose by around 14 points or so :( . if we lose then I guess we have blown the season. but still a chance against the hawks later in the year

I think it will be pretty close, but we better not get too many dodgy umpiring decisions like we did against Adelaide at Footy Park last week.

I think it'll be a lot closer and tougher than many expect. Essendon "in the zone" is dangerous, and deadly accurate - they kicked 10.0 on us in a half at TS before we got on top in the last quarter this year. When they're key players click, they fire, and they're supposed "second-tier" players are pretty handy too: Riolo, Lov-M.

I think we'll get there, but we'll need some brave, open, running play to get there. To win, we might need to kick 100+. We have the forward line, we just need the supply. No wingbound chipping around this week fellas, please!

This is such a danger game and i'm so nervous about it. We are a much better team than essendon so i think we'll be alright. They have been playing good footy lately and we have to expect some frustrating umpiring... Having said that the Swannies have surprised me lately with their abilities and i believe they are more than capable... Their performance tomorrow night will to some degree be a tell tale sign of things to come in September...

who's going to the match?

ps... GO SWANNIES!

Iagree with all posts on this one. This game will be tough, the guys have performed really well in the past few weeks, and have tackled hard and put bodies on the line,in my humble opinion, the forward line has to reward midfield
and backline for their efforts! We need to kick more goals! Simple equation!
Mickey o has to stop taking marks out on the wing! How many times this year
have we seen him take a great mark on an impossible angle.Sorry guys dont
mean to coach, probably like you i get frustrated, but i have full confidence
in Roosey! All you Melb fans when you go to the game, shout loud! As it makes
for a great atmosphere with the roof shut, espcially on telly,i live on the Gold
Coast and we do not get too many of our games live, its always the Lions.
Go the Swans!!!!

The Dons are weakened because they are missing three of their main ball winners. McViegh, Solomon and their tireless clearnace in and under man Darren Goldspink. Definitely going to be a tough game but thank you God, no Goldspink. (and God if its not too much to ask keep an eye on young Lewis, he's got a huge job on Lucas)

I'll be there with my Dad.

One of the vew few games down in Melbourne both myself and Dad get to see, as he runs a deli so games during the day are out of the questions. Also, with my VFL work and netball reporting commitments can't always get to games either.

We used to be members and were for a long time, but it's not worth with both of us not being able to make every game down here in Melbourne.

I think we'll win by 20 points.

Score might be something like 18.10 118 to 15.8 98.

Just a guess though.

Wow, ur a genius. Will u be my friend?

Great game played tonight. Barry had a great game, and this time it was O'Kefe who helped him out in the goalscoring stakes. Big effort, and top four a huge change.

IMHO,I thought the Swans were ordinary for most of the match and it wasn't until late into the 3rd quarter,we started to really fire.

At the same time,i wasn't expecting a easy match against the Bombers as i knew Essendon would be nuisance value at this time of the year.

However,it was a good match and it was great that the Swans got through to keep in the top 4!

Bring on the Lions!

Can't wait!

man why do all the good matches in sydney have to be on sunday mornings, which are made for the recovery of a hangover, not more drinking at the footy
