Hey dees bad luck sat night the lions are in some hot form. Just curious as whether i can now say i told you so when it comes to col. I knew he would hit some form and i reckon week by week he is getting better and better. Apart from a quiet game against the roos he hasn't put a foot wrong.
He was home over the split round and he reckons he just loves playing for melbourne. He has turned you into my second favorite team.
For the time he has spent on the ground he has racked up some impressive numbers. He had 1 game there he had 15 in 75 mins, thats not bad at all.
I know there may still be some doubters but surely you must be realising what he is capable of?????
Thoughts please

Well I'm not a Melbourne fan but I have to say that he has impressed me this season. I just hope that Daniher keeps giving him game time. Sylvia played two solid matches against Carlton and Richmond about a month ago, however he spent the majority of the next game on the bench. He just needs an oppertunity to show his talent. I actually think he has a great chance to win the Rising Star Award, I think he would be a worthy winner.

Brent Maloney had a very good game against us, really like his style of play, just no nonsense and also a penetrating kick. Geelong has to be scratching their heads at the moment which their decision over him.

One thing i noticed is that u guys didnt get it long to the sqaure often enough and kept handballing it forward which caused turn overs. One thing would be useful for u guys is seeing as u swarm forward in numbers, kick it long to the sqaure and if it comes to the ground, u will have many crumbers with a chance to kick goals.

Sylvia and Mclean had pretty good games as well.

yeh it rarly got to the square.

mclean was relitivly quite but kicked a good classy goal :)

holland and maybe nicholson to go for the next game

Sylvia is a gun. 23 touches in effectively 3 quarters against the Lions which is very good going. His only real bad game this year was against North, in the others he was either on the bench for long periods or was impressive.

The trolls on the main board are no longer calling him a dud too. Wonder why. :D

BTW can someone tell me when he did his (attempted) tackle on Jonathan Brown? i.e. what quarter and everything.

"His only real bad game this year was against North, in the others he was either on the bench for long periods or was impressive." The game against the Roos he spent 60 out of a possible 120 minutes on the ground. This surely is staying on the bench for a long period?

A lot of people like Moloney's style and attitude. Very happy with the trade, and of course he will get better with time. He is only 21 years old and has 35 games to his name, yet he has a big responsibility as one of our full-time midfielders.

McLean has been best on ground twice this year and has been good in many other matches. He has had one or two quiet ones, but you can't ask for much more from a 19 year old kid. He has real leadership qualities and looks like becoming a very good player for us in the future.

Sylvia could be the pick of the bunch. He started off a bit slower than McLean but is playing every week now and just keeps getting better and better. He is probably a bit quicker than McLean, apart from that I haven't ntocied much difference between the two. Sylvia has had huge wraps since day 1 and I can't wait til he fully matures. He could be the champion we've been longing for.

And about our game on Saturday night, we tried to play our normal game which is to go long and direct, but the pressure Brisbane put on our midfielders was superb and thus the reason we why got beaten so badly.

i've been very impressed with Colin's season so far, slow start but a bit confidence and time on the ground has seen him develop very quickly. His skills have improved and his tackling is awesome...probably his best attribute at the moment. McLean is struggling a bit at the minute, but i wouldn't drop him, maybe some time in the forwards as a crumber might help. He seems to be able to get into the right place at the time, so he could be very useful around goals.

Well yes. But he was on for most of the first half and was really disappointing (he had played a great game the previous week).

He's a legend.

It's been great for Col to silence the critics by giving them a little peek at his undoubted ability.

I was furious on Saturday night to find out that Moloney and Sylvia were starting on the bench for us. When they both came on fairly late in the first quarter I was discussing with my family how much of a stooge Daniher is.

What has impressed me most about Col this season is keeping his headup and performing admirably when the team is struggling (against Hawthorn, West Coast and Brisbane). This is a trait you can't teach players and I feel we have too many who drop their heads when things aren't going our way.

I will be a joy for us Melbourne supporters to watch Col play for us, hopefully for the next 10+ years.

Good points there. Bruce could do well by taking a look at Sylvia's game on Saturday night where he didn't stop trying when his team was down by 40+ points.
This year Col started a bit slowly and Brock had some really good games, but in the last two months or so Col has really caught up. Tough, mean, skilled, quick, he's got a lot of really good attributes.
BTW Daniher has been sh*tting me as well by continually starting players like Moloney and Sylvia on the bench. Those two were our best midfielders on Saturday night (Aside from TJ) yet they still get benched. Moloney came on in the first and instantly had a big impact, yet started on the bench in the second.

colin has been likened to mark riccuto as well. just the way he goes about it and his general build. he loves it in melbourne and also having a great time with nathan g browns mum. that tackle/ piggy back on brown was awesome. mclean has a knack of finding the goals i think but i dont think he has the pace to play as a leading forward. maybe as a crumber. my personal pick of the lot is moloney. the kid is solid as brick. and the amount of tackles he shrugged against brisbane was extrodinary. also a fantastic long kick of the ball. even though sylvias is big it isnt as penertrating as brents. big future that kid. looks to be an integral part of the midfield of years to come. we have also solved the problem of hard midfielders with those boys. i see mclean as a reciever personally. reminds me slightly of heffernan when heff has great games. ability to find space.

Reckon any of these youngsters will be able to fill the void left by Thompson leaving.

We need some one in and under packs and im praying one of these guys can do it.

moloney has done a good job and his kick is way better then thompsons so thats a good asset

yes, but someone has to get him the ball first. We have to many receivers and not enough in and under Grunt Players, Moloney could be this as could Brocky or Sylvia not sure whether they will i do not that Thommo is awesome at it.

IMO Brock will be an in and under for us, Col could probably be both and Beamer will be more outside but jeez can the kid break a tackle.
