Now you could go completely negative on T-Mac for that BUT . .

THAT is a leader right there, putting the importance right up there and I have no doubt he's right.

If they dont get past Utah, he'll be the one that'll be analysed the most, no doubt, alot of the series is on him in the media.

T-Mac :thumbsu:

McGrady is motivated like I have never seen before. Stated he has turned off all his phones/blackberries and ceased communications with all friends outside of the game until the playoffs are over. The only people who can get in contact with him are close family and the team.

I have never seen anyone so motivated to get out of the first round.

And he is spot on. It IS his team. This team will go as far as T-Mac takes them. He is a genuine superstar of the league and never getting out of the first round is a black mark next to his name.

He just came out and pre-empted what the media would say. If Houston don't go though to the 2nd round the media will turn on him. Not on Yao but on T-Mac.

Good luck to him :thumbsu:

Sounds like a tool to me, I saw his comments during the Rockets game 1, along the lines of "i get shane battier shot, i get yao his shots when he is double teamed, im the only play maker in this team, its my team its on me" sounds like a load of garbage and if he is just happy to get out of the first round then big deal, has been a loser all his career so far in the NBA and im pretty sure that trend will continue.
He left Orlando when they really needed him I hope they do better than the Rockets.

Tool of the week T-Mac

Errr.... Take a look at that Rockets roster and tell me who is a play maker on that team?!

I would say that T-Mac creates a hell of a lot more than anyone else on that team.

He sounded pretty arrogant in the interview shown on ESPN sunday, but i think hes making these statements to take pressure off the role players such as battier, head, mutombo and hayes.

Anyone saying what Mac is saying is incorrect has not watched the Rockets at all this year. This team will only go as far as Mac takes them, Yes Yao is a superstar but he won't get them over the line by himself.

Rafer may be able to dish the ball but he can't create his own shot on most occasions. Mac is the heart and soul of this team and if they are to be successful it will be because of him.

Mac is having his best year by some distance this year and most of that is his all round game. The ability he has to create shots for Battier, Head and Rafer from the 3 is unbelievable and something that gets over looked by most people who don't follow the rockets.

I think he is all of those things he said but he still is a knob.

10 years in the league and has nothing to show for it.

"im happy to finally get out of the first round" he might actually be able to make this statement this year with out losing.

Detroit? Who was their 1-2 punch? Same with San Antonio - it was Duncan plus either Parker or Ginobli (or the multitude of good roleplayers).

Detroit is the only team thats an exception to the rule. They have the most even team out there. They have an all-star or close to one at every position in their starting 5. No one really dominated but every one of those guys is capable of going off on any given night to carry their team accross the line.

A very interesting team is Detroit.

Does that say more about him or the surrounding cast he had around him all of his career?

He has been one some ordinary teams during his career.

Yeah not his fault Stiffy and I love watching him play but in the end he has lacked the loyalty (dogged the Magic) and ability to take a team to the next level.

His troubles with the magic stemmed from the owner. Was never going to continue to play there and in all his time there never had the supporting cast. The guy wants to win it's as simple as that.

Personally I would love to see KG do the same to Minny.

The owner at the Magic is ok though, he did give T-Mac the max contract and helped turn him into a superstar. T-Mac as a guy to me is a tool, great player but a tool. I hope he never wins a chip.

Garnett is ok bloke but anyone that turns down a $100 million dollar contract and says its not enough must be either greedy or crazy.

Yeah you could argue that he has lacked the loyatly but lacking ability to take his team to the next level, that very questionable. He has never had a great supporting cast. He has a good side kick now in Yao but look at the rest of that roster. Its bad! Battier is the intangibles type guy. Alston is a play ground star that doesn't know how to run a team from his position. Their PFs are a laughing stock of the NBA and Head is a solid reserve. Other than that what exactly does he have to hang his hat on?

This team is a T-Mac injury away from being in contention for a top 5 pick. Even the great Michael Jordan couldn't do it all alone remember. This is a team game and T-Mac has never really had the supporting cast to help him take his team to another level.

Surround T-Mac and Yao with some good players in the right positions and then come and tell me he doesn't have the ability to take his team to the next level.

Basketball is a team sport and your right no one has done it by themselves but T-Mac has numbers thats it (quoting PTI) has not won anything. Might not be his fault but until he starts winning to me hes just a guy with a lot of talent
I think Chuck Hayes has been solid for them all year and also Howard was excellent when Yao went down so laughing stock no way.
Head solid but is a shooter thats it, Alston is a good defensive player also thats why he ended up in the League as thats what holds back most of those And1 players.

I don't think you will find Houston fans complaining about the way Rafer runs the point, it is his awful shooting that most complain about. When it comes to assit/turnover ratio he is actually very good and often gets the ball into Yao very well which the key to being the point guard for Houston.

Chuck hayes is actually very underrated, while he may not be a huge name guy he was the main reason they won against Utah today. The guy plays with Yao better than any player has since Yao entered the NBA and that includes Mac. When Yao went down Hayes was lost out there. The guy is a Rebounding maching and with Battier has drawn the most charges in the league. Hayes and Battier's defense are two of the main reasons they have homecourt in the 4-5 match up against the Jazz.

Mutumbo also played out of his skin when Yao went down, The guy was a beast and defended the paint better than anyone could have imagined.

They were handcuffed by Hill's contract. Imagine though if they were both injury free. That would have been one sick team to watch.
