T-rex

[GAS PANIC]

Have got into this 70's band recently and just wondering everyone elses opinion.
If anyone is also a fan what record would be the best to get of their work?

There are two seperate eras.
The folky acoustic era late 60's to '70 or so then the electric era. I like both but generally prefer the hippie acoustic stuff.

The best is generally considered to be Electric Warrior. You get great glam rock like Get It On and dreamy mystical numbers like Cosmic Dancer.

I love T-Rex.

Probably the only band to have started off with a guitarist and a bongo player.

at one point, the only two songs i'd heard of where children of the revolution and get it on.

then was cruising down a record store one day and saw a best of t rex so i bought it... only to hear songs completely different. after a bit more investigating i discovered they basically changed bands (not name or members, just their music style) completely at one point. i.e. as someone said the hippy accoustic era and the electric hard rock era

the best of i had was the accoustic stuff i didn't particularly like it but i only gave the CD one listen before i left for o/s so i haven't had a chance to revisit.

they are on my list to get around to again one day and see what i can get from them because i'm sure i'd enjoy them.

Children of the Revolution is one of the best rebellion songs going though. absolute ripper.

I've only got '20 golden greats and can recommend that.....


If you are after a studio album i haven't heard any of them,but an old workmate of mine was a huge T Rex fan and said that 'The Slider' was his favourite

Electric Warrior by far.
Cosmic Dancer and Mambo Sun are mindblowing

i think the slider is a notch above Electric Warrior
Zinc Alloy and The Hidden Riders of Tomorrow seems very underrated.
it's just got alot going on.

such a good act.
i'm up to Bolan's Zip Gun in the t.rex cannon
prob won't bother with the pre t.rex stuff

Have to go against the grain I'm afraid. Never heard anything of theirs that remotely turns me on. Doesn't do it for me sorry.
