Surely they're taking the urine with this one...

WTF...............

This is getting out of hand, the ACB SHOULD be trying to improve Australian cricket, yet this is another way to stuff it up!!

They expect me to pay $$$$ to go and watch a washed up rugby player:thumbsd::thumbsd: No chance, if fact im losing intrest already. Dam you ACB should have left it state v state.

Considering his form has been in the doghouse in all formats for about a year or more and England have said 'no thanks', the surprise must be entirely disingenuous.
Made a century in his first innings back for his county side this season

Perhaps you could blame the team itself. CA don't sign players for Queensland. If Queensland want to do this so be it. Same as if your club wants to keep Neil Craig on as coach it's not the AFL's fault. However the fact the signing is yet to be posted on the bigbash site makes me think CA have been busy on the phone anyway

As for state v state, well a move away from state v state needs to happen anyway, so hopefully this is a trial run to get y'all used to it. you can't have a 6 team FC comp with absolutely no chance of more teams ever joining. It worked for a long time. So did the CA board. But both need to be reformed.

4 to go. Batting is fair. Bowling attack still needs a bit of work. Wonder where Krejza will lob, would have been one of the first picked if I was running one of these sides. Spinners and bowling attack in general is what you need.

Yeah Wendell Sailor is one thing but signing Ben Hilfenhaus is just too much

:D:thumbsu:

I'm guessing the Renegades line-up will look something like this:

Hodge
Finch
A.McDonald
Reardon
Afridi
Maxwell
Razzaq
Carters
Heal/Harwood
Nannes
Tait

Harwood/Heal
Hill
Herrick
Sheridan
B.McDonald

That's an amazing lineup. Not sure how they managed to keep that under the salary cap. They've done very well.

Afridi and so on batting too high for my liking. You can more or less count on at least 16 from Tait, Nannes, Afridi, McDonald & Razzaq with maybe the entire 20 coming from them, and then Hodge and perhaps Reardon/Maxwell could come up with the rest of the overs. Harwood/Heal are kinda useless in that team. So Harwood/Heal for probably Hill for me and then the batting becomes even stronger, and the bowling isn't weakened that much. Stunning team really.

edit Another two signings to come anyway so another batsman replacing Reardon/Maxwell might be enough to keep Harwood/Heal in there.

if we were gonna jump on this bandwagon we shoulda done it 2 or 3 years ago when warne, gilly and co were still guns for hire

for a while i thought the strikers had decided not to bother with players but it seems we're pretty much the redbacks with the notable absence of christian and tait. christian is a big loss. tait was not made an offer by adelaide

i guess pollard is still holding out til he gets a harem and plenty ganj thrown in to the deal. maybe that blonde bird from fox too.

Is anyone going to bother going? Ive been the last few years with the cricket team, we made the trip to Adelaide Oval. It was a great evening, cheering on the Redbacks. Don't know if we will bother watching the Strikers.

Well I am on board the Renegades but that just means I broadly support them and will follow the scores on Cricinfo as there is no free to air coverage. Might go to the Melbourne derby though.

Will be 'following' the Hobart Hurracaines and the Melbourne Stars, because I am a Tassie man, but living in Victoria. I use the term 'following' very loosely because it really is hard to get excited for this comp. It all seems like a bit of a ego booster for CA to try and keep up with India and the ipl but it's just not going to work.

Whilst constantly focusing on the batting side you are ignoring the fact he is a bloody good bowler in limited overs and especially T20, average of 15, s/r of 12, not bad at all

Yes, he is a good bowler, eddie, (though his stats away from home leave an awful lot to be desired which means quite a lot considering he is playing in Australia not in England) and he was skipper of the World T20 team, etc, etc,. I just don't see the point in having him and Gibbs.
