Sorry, but in Table Tennis I have everyone here beat

My Step-father, now deceased, was Phillip Anderssen.

3 times Australian singles champion

9 Australian & 30 State titles

11 International titles
Australian Jubilee Champion 1951

Playing coach of Qld, NSW, WA & SA

Player/Captain of 4 Australian teams to World Titles

World touring exhibition partner of Mikael Szabados (former World Champion) for 3 decades

The only Australian player to ever defeat a current World Champion, Victor Barna.

If you would like to see some of Phil's trophies & memorabilia they are displayed by the Southern Table Tennis Association Inc., Wilfred Taylor Reserve, States Road, Morphett Vale, SA 5162,

Phil would coach me for about 2 hours every night, for several years, I was never going to be anything special, but I did manage to represent South Australia in State competitions. Part of many premiership teams, the one I'm most proud of was part of the winning Australian Secondary Schools Champion team in 1975. We had a great team, John Pierce, Greg Horne, Shelley Horne & me, the first 3 were all Australian championship standard.

So come on, bring it on baby........(sic ;) :D )

k dude that just crosses the line...

I was 4th in Victoria at U/14 level. Still play occasionally, and still cant lose, but sheesh it gets boring after a while.

2 tips where you cant go wrong:

- Play spin rather than speed
- Learn how to smash

Nawwwwwwwww VinnyDaaaaaLoooooooo

No Oriental fractions in me, (as far as I know??????)

Most Oriental players use the "Penholder Grip", whereas most Western stylised players use the "Sandwich Grip" of holding the bat. Also, with the Penholder Grip, the norm is to have rubber on one side only. Whereas using the Sandwich Grip I used "Sriver" 1.5mm on the backhand, "Mark 5" 2.0mm on the forehand.

I doubt these rubbers are even available these days?

I'm not bad. Play A reserve every Thursday night - my winter sport. I had one bad week where I lost all three of my singles matches, but apart from that I've only lost one other game.

I tend to play defensively, and generally wait for the other player to attack before playing smashes. That usually works, but if I play someone else with the same tactic the game can get pretty boring - I often have rallies going for 100+ shots because no one is willing to smash.
