Hi Guys,
found this on foxsports. I'll admit I haven't read the fulla rticle but from what I've read he fancies himself to take over Bass... I think he'll find some pretty stiff competition there!!

Nathan Bassett's retirement leaves gap for Crow Brad Moran
By Scott Walsh
January 19, 2009 BRAD Moran says he is the man to replace Adelaide favourite son Nathan Bassett in defence this year.
Former Kangaroo Moran played only seven games for the Crows last year after injuries slashed his first season at West Lakes.
The versatile tall debuted in the round 16 Showdown against Port Adelaide and shot to prominence with four goals in just his third game, leading Adelaide to an eight-point win over Carlton in round 18.
He also proved a handy back-up to leading ruckman Ivan Maric after Jon Griffin succumbed to a hip injury late in the season.
Moran was recruited in late 2007 as a key defender, with a view to fill the void of Bassett, who retired last year after 210 games in 11 seasons with the Crows.
And after a year bullet-holed by hand and hamstring injuries that left him at "the crossroads", Moran believed his strongest position in Adelaide's line-up was in the back half, next to full back Ben Rutten and defending club champion Nathan Bock.
"The idea last year was to fill in Nathan Bassett's spot this year, but with the way footy goes now you've got to remain versatile," Moran said.
"If a forward falls over or a ruckman falls over, how many numbers we've got to select from will determine where I play.
"It would be good for me to stay down back and then come into the ruck when they need me. I'd like to be able to play somewhere and say that's my position but at the moment I'll play anywhere.
"With Nathan Bock and Truck (Rutten) down there I'm left to play the third tall, or on the quicker players as well.
"We've got Griffo and Ivan Maric as good, solid ruckman, plus Kurt Tippett up front as well. In an ideal world it would be me playing defence but it's not always going to be that way."
Now 22, Moran shifted to Adelaide after playing just three games in three years with North Melbourne.
The Roos drafted the 199cm rugby convert known for his speed as a "project player" with pick 58 in the 2004 draft but failed to show consistent faith in their English-born giant.
Moran's move to West Lakes filled him with faith of a fresh start, until he broke a bone in his right hand during an early trial match for SANFL club West Adelaide.
Just a week after making his return he strained a hamstring, ruling him out until opportunity knocked with Griffin's season-ending hip injury.
"It was fairly interrupted, I'd never had a year like that before so it was hard - very hard," he said.
"I hate being on the sidelines. I was itching to get out there.
"I had a word to the coach (Neil Craig) and I knew as well as he did there was a good chance I wouldn't even play last year.
"I came to the crossroads of my career where I was thinking 'gee, this year's gone pretty downhill'. I'd spent three long years at the Kangaroos and I didn't have the greatest time there - constant setbacks, constant adversity and people telling you you're not good enough, you won't be playing until 2010.
"It was a big test. I had to focus on what was appropriate, and wasting energy on being frustrated wasn't."
Moran, who overcame groin soreness early in the Crows' pre-season, expects 2009 to be a better year.
Just days before Christmas he proposed to partner Alicia, he has expanded his off-field role to part-time modelling and plans to start a business.
"I'm pretty happy at the moment. I've got a few things going on this year," he said.
"Football is coming along and hopefully I'll be able to play more solidly this year, not so much looking over my shoulder but looking forward."
