Welcome to the legal systemLots of questions here about who did what ,guilt etc but I ask why did it drag on for so bloody long ?
Yes, this is also the case for the DeGoey allegations. Charges were dropped because the complainant/accuser withdrew them (DeGoey, I'm talking about here). He was never declared "innocent."And that's the difference - this is not a "not guilty" verdict, where we can quite rightly run some of the analysis that people are - very sensitively and sensibly - proposing.
It's actually 'guilty even if proven innocent' in the eyes of social media.Innocent until proven guilty …

These witnesses are not known to the accused, but to the accuser...If what you say is true, that the complainant's friends testified she said it was consensual, but she was going to use it to get some money, then that does horrify me.
I believe you just have. What a strange attention-seeking gesture.More to this but I won't comment at this stage
The accuser = the complainant (aka the one making the complaint). These witnesses are not known to the accused, but to the accuser...
I'm pretty sure Joe knows that which is why they were talking about the ones who gave evidence during the first two days of the committal hearing as being witnesses for the accuser/complainantThe accuser = the complainant (aka the one making the complaint).
Have you seen the number of calls on Geelong AFL social media spaces for her to be counter-sued for lies, defamation etc? It's actually 'guilty even if proven innocent' in the eyes of social media.
I thought I would just keep the language clear. The accuser = the complainant (aka the one making the complaint).
What difference would it make?More to this but I won't comment at this stage
Do you think this affected Ollie’s performance this year?Hopefully we all move on and effectively we pick up a much needed addition to our midfield grunt.
And Olliev Henry will be a lot happier too.
Absolutely early on, then his confidence took a beating.Do you think this affected Ollie’s performance this year?
Where did you get this information about the five people from?I agree completely and, of course, sex crime cases are terribly complex and this one has the extra factor of being sleazy in even the most positive light.
But five people associated with the alleged victim swearing on oath that she said it was consensual and wanted to extort money?
This case is one I'm willing to go that far on. The prosecution should never have proceeded.
And that's the difference - this is not a "not guilty" verdict, where we can quite rightly run some of the analysis that people are - very sensitively and sensibly - proposing.
If he'd been found not guilty, I'd agree. Doesn't mean he's innocent, who knows what happened ...
But this is an abandoned prosecution. It's dropped charges even though the alleged victim continues to claim a crime occurred. But with compelling evidence she is lying.
This happens for two reasons. First, it's the 1970s and we're living in the gender dark ages. Second, it's because the DPP has come to its senses and realised that the case is weak.
In that case, "innocent" is fine by me.
Or even those without oneHopefully Tanner can move on with his life now, unfortunately this stigma will stick with him. The lesson is players need to be more aware of what they do outside of the club. Looking around for girls in car parks at 4:00 am is not smart for someone with a public profile .

It used to be stumbling around looking for a kebab back in my day.Or even those without one![]()
That you, Danger? It used to be stumbling around looking for a kebab back in my day.
is that a euphemism? It used to be stumbling around looking for a kebab back in my day.
Credit to Mr Meow, it's genuinely so sad that people would rather the horrific scenario of a woman being r*ped so they have an opportunity to pointscore on a football club they hate, than have the situation we've got where Tanner is an innocent man.Just back from the main board. Need a wash.
The dark side of human nature, prejudice and the investment in an alternative reality, disappoints me.
A lot.
