Without knowing the exact facts early on, I commented that I hope this isn’t a case of a cop going for a celebrity scalp. I have witnessed this first hand, many times. Hope Tanner can put it all behind him.

The bit I don't get is how the CCTV contradicted a statement and it still got to court??? (Or was it the testimony that it contradicted - I'm a bit lost. But either way...)

Geelong Football Club acknowledges the finalisation of legal proceedings in the Geelong Magistrates’ Court today, where all charges in relation to Tanner Bruhn have been withdrawn.

Until today, a court imposed suppression order has been in place for the duration of these legal proceedings prohibiting any public comment.

While legal proceedings have been ongoing, the Club has provided professional welfare to Tanner during this time and will continue to do so.

Tanner will return to the football program for the start of pre-season training.

I'm not over the whole nitty-gritty of it but this was from a hearing a few months earlier. The pissant witness was giving testimony that he was punched and stomped on, but there was CCTV footage of Bruhn and co at all times and nothing of the sort ever happened.

A key court hearing for a high profile man accused of rape has been temporarily stood down for a witness to receive “independent legal advice”.

Called to give evidence, Harrison Martin told the court he’d been friends with the alleged victim in late 2022 and early 2023.

Mr Martin told the court he tried to intervene on his friend’s behalf, but was punched and stomped on by the “tall one”.

Ms O’Brien accused Mr Martin of lying about the assault, which he denied, saying the alleged assault was not captured on CCTV.

“What we have is from the moment these gentlemen arrive to the moment they leave is constant surveillance of them,” Ms O’Brien said.

“I’m giving you an opportunity not to commit perjury.”

After a short break in the hearing, prosecutor Catherine Parkes said Mr Martin had “raised a matter which requires independent legal advice”.

She requested, and Ms Swadesir agreed, the case was adjourned until Friday for this to occur.

I could not be more happy with how the footy club handled this. A crappy situation but they stood by their player and supported him as best they could.

But there are a lot of people out there who should hang their heads in shame with the absolute crap they have posted online thinking they were either funny or tough or whatever they thought they were. They should be embarrassed for themselves now.
 
This is absolutely sickening, the poor guy has been through so much abuse, slander and not being able to play as a result
Looking forward to cheering him on next year and hope he gets a fair run at it

How would folks feel if we gave things 24/48 hours to have their say on things, and then locking the thread and moving forward to pre-season discussion with players due to shortly return?

Obviously if there's any further developments or actions taken we can reopen the thread, otherwise look at this as the time to move on from the distractions of the past 9/10 months

In all honestly, even if you left this thread open, I do not think it's going to actually have much steam in it.

If this were a charges dropped due to lack of evidence thread, yes, it would get extremely messy. But unless this turns into some form of woman-hating circle jerk (unlikely), I don't think there's a need to shut much down.

I say no. We've been denied the chance to talk about this all year, and now you want to take that away from us again. Please don't over mod this subreddit.

Maybe give it a week. There's a lot of people that dont check in at this time of year so they may want to have a say.

And I probably wouldn't bother adding in any reports of subsequent lawsuits etc.
It wouldn't be about footy at that stage.
