back to tapscott, he is impressing people down at melb Fc...........is there a permanent spot for him?? at this stag`?

We need to get more of a look at him first. I would guess that he wont be picked in the round 1 side, but he'll get a chance within the first 4 or 5 rounds.

Whether he can cement a spot immediately I wouldnt know but it certainly sounds like he will a regular within a year or 2 at the latest.

They just said on SEN that due to your injuries Tapscott will play on Sunday. That's fantastic for him, I reckon you guys will like what you see :thumbsu:

Booya! Ever since I saw him dump Karmichael Hunt in the VFL I've been waiting for him to get a gig. Unfortunate circumstances may have got him in the team, but here's hoping that he makes a fist of it!

With Scull out, I would say that Tappy is a 100% certain starter this week. I guess the decision will be between he and Gysberts, but from what I saw at the praccy match, Gys looks like he is underdone adn needs to get a few full games into him. I would give Tappy the nod. I reckon he is just one of those blokes that will just look right at home on the 'G'. He looked like a 3rd year player, not a 1st gamer against the Lions. Best kick we have as well.

Good luck Luke.

I hope he makes a fist of it as I want to have him in my SuperCoach :)

Grimes intercepts the ball off half back passes off to Tapscott who goes for a run down the centre then pin points a flying Jurrah on the lead at half forward.

Sound good?

In reality the injuries haven't meant a thing. He would've played anyway.

Tapscott will play as a small back and our injuries have been to mids and a tall back.

If Frawley, Morton and Scully were available I reckon Tapscott would have had to wait a few more weeks.

Anyway Im not disappointed - cannot wait to see the lad go!

I disagree. We've been crying out for a great kick that can penetrate zones and presses. Bailey said in a recent article that the sooner we can get games into Tapscott the better. Connolly said on radio that he could be the recruit of the year.

One of Strauss or Tapscott was going to play, imo. He'll play back, others will try and get the ball in his hands, and he'll do the odd kick in. Morton, McKenzie, or Scully wouldn't have affected his role.

You try finding 4 guys to drop if Morton, Scully, Frawley and McKenzie were available.

Agree we need a great kick like his across half back atm, but he hasnt dominated preseason, its his first game, and he's not going to come straight in and be the general like Goddard or Hodge.

Anyway academics aside, I am wrapped he finally gets his start - cannot wait to see him!

Clean up Aisle 6. Sanjay to the window with the windex (you get the picture).

I'm not a fan of Joel MacDonald, so he'd be the first. Despite his great preseason I doubt Jetta will have a position if Scully and McKenzie are available. When fully fit Gysberts would also be in my team. Bennell just doesn't find enough of it and is poor defensively. I don't think it works having both Maric and Bennell in the side. And when I pick my best possible team I struggle to find room for have Nathan Jones. The turnover merchants are always the first to go.

I love Bartam's courage and hardness, and despite his good 2010 he will ultimately need to make way for a quality kick.

But yeah, it's getting hard. The way it should be. A number of players ranked 15-22 become a toss of the coin, but I'll always try and make room for the elite kick if it's 50/50. Especially if it's an elite kick coming out of defence with the way the game is now played.

Agreed. I think he'll keep his spot though until one of Strauss or Blease take it from him.

I think that Tapscott will be used to free Grimes to go into a more full time midfield role.

I would add bombs away Beamer to the Nate Jones category. He plays a role, but in 2-3 years time i'd be worried if he was still in our side.

I expect Daniel Talia to be a player for us, but it would have been a toss up between him and Taps, gun kid and player, was certainly the 2nd best SA kid behind Jack.

Would love to have got him. Port had 2 picks, they should have used 1 on him.

Tapscott having a decent game so far today. He's had 9 kicks & 3 marks so far...
