I sense you know something we don't. I'm listening (reading actually). ;)
I know nothing as my source is not there anymore but seriously, with that many good SA lads out of contract (Pav, Cooney et al) making Meyer your priority is not exactly being pro-active and wanting to get better. It would send a message of wanting to be mediocre ;)

how about a package of 2nd round pick + Meesen for:

Meyer and Schulz

no thanks:

Perrie>Bock>S Stevens>Schulz and we have Sellar & Tippett too

Meesen>Maric> Meyer+Schulz

however Meyer for a 2nd round perhaps but i would prefer Faulkner and in any case , as Stiffy said, there are plenty bigger fish to chase first

You would no doubt enquire about his availability. He's not -hopeless- it's just that you wouldn't put much effort in to trading for him. I think he'd be worth a second rounder from what I've seen but nothing much more.

Agree about the bigger fish comment though.

Meyer is the sort of player you don't go out and persue. He is the sort of player you think about if you see that he is available but you wouldn't be putting major moves into motion to get him like we did with Thommo in 2004.

As fir the 2nd rounder, I don't think so as we might look to keep that pick as extra currency in potentially a bigger trade. Meyer is the sort of trade you don't start doing on day one of trading, he is the fall back option if everything else falls through. Ala Ronnie Burns trade. Last day, just before the deadline.

Oh and fightdreamer88, no chance in hell we could get both. One or none but it would be impossible to get both in one off-season.

In all honesty i dont think meyer's will bring much to the club. And for Schulz NO WAY!!!!!! He struggling to hold his place at the bottom placed team and i agree we do have good young forwards coming through anyways. U just have to b patient my friend. Frankly i'm not a real fan of this trading players game. i mean we should use it to get higher on draft day not really get players from other clubs...(there is the exception of Scotty Thompson). Look at West Coast they participate in trade week every year BUT DONT GET PLAYERS!! They only want to help themselves on draft day. Clubs mainly buy players during trade week if their a developing club and need experience in some areas....We're going from the premiership!!!

I think instead of Meyer we should juz need to give proplyzia and campbell a good go and u will all forget about meyer (not even gonna mention Schulz). And for Meesen I just want him 2to play a couple of games for us before we trade him away. I mean look at Griffo, he wasn't really tearing it up in SANFL but now we all rate him. So give Meesen a go before we make any decisions we may later regret.

Agree wholeheartedly.... I guess Meese is not far away now

You can't be serious? Faulkner is a complete dud. He's 22 and apart from his debut he hasn't kicked more than 1 goal in a game, pretty pathetic for a small forward. Pass.

And I can't believe people want Cooney. The Bulldogs would be asking for a lot in return, and quite frankly, he's not worth it.

Agree on both counts Drummond.

IMO Faulkner will be delisted at year end if not on contract and would be a 5th round or PSD draft pick at best. Has done somewhere between very little and nothing since being drafted.

Cooney is a talented player but not in the mould that we want - more of a receiver than a ball getter.

I'd rather have Ryan Griffen than Cooney.

But is that a bad thing? ;)

We also seem to be forgetting that Reilly was very much a receiver when we got him. Cooney would definetly be in the mould that we would want. A good sized midfielder with explosive pace, good ability to find the footy and he is a genuine goal kicker when resting in the forward line.

Having said that, I would also prefer Griffen as well but I sure as hell wouldn't say no to him either. If Pav is off the market, Cooney should instantly be the #1 target.

That's pretty rich considering he only played 2 games at S.A.N.F.L league level before eventually breaking into the side through an opportunity with all of our available ruckmen being injured?!?!

He WAS kicking around in the magoos for a long time ...

What i really meant by my comments of Griffo was that, if we didn't have all the ruck troubles at the start of the season, we probably would have not given Griffo a game in the afl as both Meesen and Maric were ahead of him in the pecking order. Therefore, with Biglands coming back next yr and expressing he's desire to play we probably would have had too many ruckmen on our list and Griffo would have been the one to go. Thats was the whole reasoning behind why i said look at the impact griffo is having now since he's got a go and we all know (or should know) Meesen probably has the most natural ability out of all our young ruckmen (maybe besides Tippet...who's going to be a gem come next season).

I didnt mean to infer a 2nd round pick for Faulkner but a 4th round or psd or depending on strength of the draft a 3rd round if a weak draft

IMO Faulkner has some attributes (good defensive skills such as tackling chasing etc and a bit of pace) that we could use and i suspect Craig would get the full potential out of him.

I see him either as a crumbing forward &/or back pocket

Seriously, NO. And a back pocket player? What has there been to indicate that he would provide anything in that position? Faulkner is just an extremely average player who will be playing in the SANFL next season. He arrived at the Bulldogs with huge wraps but has delivered nothing. For a guy who’s career was on the line on Sunday he was deplorable.

Didn't see the game and your analysis is probably correct ...however it's not the first time a change in city and lifestyle has reformed a players career.

For all we know Faulkner may not have settled well into Melbournes lifestyle
