Today I went into Target looking for bathers but left with a new t-shirt and shorts and underwear (ironically didn't find bathers).
So I ask GD, is shopping at Target looked at with the same disdain as shopping at Rivers?
If so, I am guilty.

they not girls clothes, just cheap clothes that say youre not a snappy guy.
thats why all my clothes are target clothes.

I wouldn't say so. I get the odd plain t-shirt from there as well as :heart:ruggers:heart:. Its simple and cheap.

EDIT - I kind of group Kmart, BigW and Target into one. I probably go to big dub more though as the nearest Target is further away, so what i said might be more applicable to it.

I buy socks and underwear there and cheap black work pants (for a casual job).

I don't think I've ever really bought casual clothes there but they do seem to have a reasonable range and not just jim beam/jack daniels, ford/holden, simpsons shit that the other cheap stores sell to bogans.

target's okay for jocks, socks and cheap t-shirts for the yard.
rivers these days is a ****ing disgrace, unless you're into checked shirts and $18 shoes.
they've gone downhill big time, used to be a little upmarket quite a few years ago.

Yeah but their shirts have double-stitched, triple-woven inverted seams.

(I don't know if that makes any sense but neither do their ads)

Rivers used to make a virtue of being Australian goods, hand made in the country (well, Ballarat IIRC); they positioned themselves as a quality firm.

Now it's just fire sale after fire sale. I smell a cash flow problem.

i used to love rivers boat shoes around 15 years ago, now i dont think they even stock them anymore.
i got a rivers gift voucher for my birthday last year, i honestly couldn't find anything to get that i thought i'd wear.
it's a bit tragic really, they were an icon around 20 years ago

I'll buy socks and undies there, Kmart or BigW. where else are you going to go?

I usually follow these rules when I'm buying anything which isn't plain.

1. No more than 3 colours
2. Balanced (You don't want the design to be completely on one side and the rest of the shirt to be plain)
3. No numbers/Words.

There are a few exceptions (I like some of the stuff from Buddy Franklin's brand.), but if you follow these rules you cant go wrong. Just about everything you find at Target breaks the rules.

You're doing it wrong
I'm 12 and what is this?

I'm struggling to find any good examples right now, but:

You're doing it right (hi omit)
You're doing it right
This one breaks the rules but still looks cool

Getting stuff off the net is definitely the way to go atm. Cheap and you've got a much bigger range to chose from obviously. No need to shop at Rivers/Target.

There was another thread a while back and somebody linked to Threadless because they were having a sale (Grizz?). I picked up 3 tees because they were cheap but they actually fit well and look pretty good on. A lot of crap to sift through but you'll usually find one or two things that suit you. Get on it. :thumbsu:

Ed harry is my main stop for basic shirts, rebel sport for singlets, kmart does ok for some cheap shirts/bonds singlets/jocks. Never go to target but i imagine it's similar to kmart.

Tarocash and yd are the main stops for dress shirts. I've even got slacks from kmart before, nobody knows the difference really.

Cotton On > Target for cheap basics (plain t-shirts, singlets, etc).

Yeah i've gotten a fair few tees from there in the last year or so, and a $20 hoodie which was the greatest, warmest thing in winter.

Also why do you always have a :D at the top of all your posts haaha ;)
