Great servant of the club but has the game passed him? Seems to be making a lot more mistakes under pressure nowdays. Should he still be a lock for selection every week?

this proberly isn't worth a thread but still. The game is not passed him he is no longer used to playing down back and is far more effective as HF, although I agree he did make some mistakes.

I was flabbergasted when he started back. Hasn't played a decent game there since about 2007.

And by moving him there, we were depriving our forwards of the best kick to a lead on our team.

It's like robbing Peter to pay Paul, only to get punched in the face by Paul.

His panic errors stood out. Did it against the Dogs too.
He doesn't impact games , he'll get on the end of a few during the year. But when it is hot he is too small and he is not quick , hard , poised or penetrating enough to get away with it.

Used poorly tonight.

Is not a back pocket defender like he once was or a half-back flanker.

He is a forward flanker nowadays.

In fact, I have no doubt he would have drilled some of those shots we sprayed i.e. JMac, Rusty, Beams etc as he is a very reliable kick for goal.

Bad coaching move IMO as his ability to spot up targets around and inside the forward 50 was clearly missed as he had to sacrifice his game and play a negating role on Schneider. Whilst he kept him pretty quiet, it wouldn't have bothered Rossy Lyon as Lockyer's strengths weren't being utilisied so even a "break-even" result is a win for the Saints.

He can only play in one position, and thats as a 10 possession, 1 1/2 goal average half forward flank.

He had to play back tonight due to Shaw, Johnson and Goldsack being unavailable and he simply struggled.

Not having a go at him, it is his last year, like O'Bree and they have been great for our club, but they are "past their best", although in the right position they still offer us something at times.

For a supposed senior player, he rarely sets an example to his younger players about putting his body & head over the line. He short stepped at least 3 times tonight & is a bigger liability than Didak & Leon, when they aren't putting their body on the line.

This is a dumb thread he was played in the wrong position!

Look, he may have been out of position tonight but personally I think cracks are starting to show a little, even when he is playing forward. I've probably gone a little early but was wondering whether anybody else is starting to ask questions :thumbsu:

Let's hope he kicks 2 or 3 next week and shuts me up :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Agree with a lot of others, only position is up forward where he can lead and use his footskills. Too outside for a mid, and far too slow to be playing in the back 50, and is generally poor in 1 v 1's.

Good post.
There's a reason he's not missed a game for years and it's not his back pocket prowess. It's unfair to lump too much on Tarks. he was filling a vacancy he never should have had to.
