Looking the goods, I reckon.
Used the ball well, and pinpointed Pavlich a number of times.
Best role I reckon is running up and providing the link to Pav.
Good pass to a leading forward, better than kicking for goal.:thumbsu:

Taz has been playing well for the last 4 or 5 weeks now. He is a very important player and a big part of the reason Pav can do what he does. Players like Mayne and Dunn will learn a lot from him in regards to the workrate required in the forward line. If only he could impart some of that onto Murphy.

He was getting bagged too, early on in the season. Particularly from Caringbush supporters.
He's going well now, just don't trust his set shots for goal, but thats ok he can give it off to the Pavmeister !!

Playing the role we recruited him for.

I never expected him to kick bags of goals, he job was to play support to Pavlich and that is exactly what he did yesterday.

His work rate is back to where it was last year, and he seems to have more confidence. That first goal of his was a ripper - I knew we were going to have a good day.

Very happy with the way the club handled his form early in the season, he's definitely earned his spot now.

It's the effort of him, Solomon and the young blokes that set the standard for our middle tier players like Peake and Schammer. Very promising signs yesterday from the team.

Tarrant is bloody quick when you watch him at the game. Leads hard and long, long leads.. the guy has an amazing tank for a big guy. Can run 100m at full pelt then double back and do it again 2 minutes later.

Have to agree regarding his pace, he often runs past the spare man to take a mark. He has his direct opponent and a guy droppping back in front of his lead. He manages to lead past the both of them. It would look like bugger all on tv, like an uncontested mark on the wing.

But in reality he just beat 2 players to allow us to progress inside our forward 50.

Super impressed with Taz since he came back from injury.

Tarrant refutes rumours regarding move home

16th June 2008, 11:00 WST

Improving Fremantle forward Chris Tarrant rates rumours of his homesickness as the most disappointing aspect of the scrutiny he has come under since his relocation from Melbourne.
The former Collingwood star denied rumours that he wanted to move back to the Victorian capital and said he is now starting to form a better understanding with Dockers teammates.
The midfielders and half back line are now coming to grips with the style of play that Tarrant prefers, including long leads from inside 50 often ending as far up the ground as the wing.
Tarrant also gave his tick of approval to the three tall forward system employed by coach Mark Harvey on Saturday in the Dockers demolition of the Kangaroos.
Matthew Pavlich and Ryan Murphy played closer to goal while Tarrant pushed up the ground as a leading centre half forward to good effect, creating space for Pavlich to boot eight goals in a best on ground performance.

Not taking anything away from the content of this article, but very rare you see something like that written without an actual quote from the person it relates to... may just be coz it's on the website rather than the paper itself (bigger article tomorrow?), but it's as if the journo paraphrased what they talked about...

Yep. Has the perfect build for a 200 runner. Not sure what his acceleration is like, but his flying speed is very good. If he could have got his goal kicking sorted, he would have been a dead set legend. But really, is all athlete who is perfectly suited for a long lead up forward position.

Click the link provided. The article has a bunch of quotes from Tarrant, and is a lot longer than the bit in the post above. he sounds like he is starting to really settle in properly. He has been sensational since coming back from East Perth.

Another article for your enjoyment.

taz was great on saturday, he also always applies pressure. it helps when we actually pass it half decent to him as well.

Tarrant also (possibly because he is a forward) seems to know how to pass to a forwards advantage, even if it is just to the correct side of the contest. makes a huge difference as not many players would be able to move pav of the ball legally. even jeffrey is bloody hard to beat.

Anyone notice the footage after the game with Tarrant having ice bandaged on to the inside of each calf. Could indicate shin splints or just precautionary measures. But it certainly had me a little concerned.

Taz has had calf problems for a while TC. He had surgery on both calves before the start of last season. I wouldn't be too concerned, would imagine it is pretty standard for him most weeks to ice them up.
