Am looking to get a tattoo sometime soon, but want to be certain that the tattooist will do a good job. Could anyone recommend a tattooist either in the Geelong area or in and around the Melbourne CBD. Would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I'm also looking for a quality artist to put my designs on my skin... I will travel anywhere in the country for quality.

BTW - I can design tatoos if anyone is interested...

She got her first when she was 15! Personally, I don't really like her choices (butterfly, om, and an ankh) but it's not my body.

been thinking about gettin one for a while as u do coz its a permanent thing to have only cant find any good design sites on the net eg.one thats categorised where u don't have to wade through a thousand different types

i want to get a barbed wire round my arm or ankle, Ozzy on my toes (cant do knuckles like him coz i actually have to hold down a real job) and a Spider/web probably on the back

I'm planning on confirming my sanity by NEVER getting a tattoo.

I cannot for the life of me understand why people wish to disfigure themselves?

My Dad had been a soldier in WW2, and also in the Merchant Marine, he had plenty of tatts, and he regretted each and every one of them in his declining years.

I agree 100%. Tatts are for losers who can't see beyond the here and now.

I don't have a tattoo, but I see no reason why they are intrinsically "bad"

People have been tattooing themselves for 1000's of years for many reasons.

By your logic:

We take the most well rounded, generous, smart, funny, well-liked human being in the world.

Then we add a tattoo

And now, they're a loser!

Maybe YOU should get a tattoo that says "SHALLOW"

To each their own, but I don't think that anyone here was planning on getting their whole body covered in tatts. And even if they were, it's up to them.

I think if it's something you believe in strongly enough then to have a permanent reminder of it on your body makes it part of you.

It's a form of expression, that's why they call it "Body Art"

Anyone deciding to get a tattoo, for **** sake get something original.
Barbed wire, Chinese, Maori & Celtic symbols are the most passe' & pointless things to get permanently etched into your skin. You may as well get a barcode.

depending of course on where you get it, what it means, and what it looks like.

i do agree with the barbed wire tho...and celtic bands around the arm. They are a bit fashion statement-ish now

Yeah, get a tattoo of the cow that I saw in MX a couple of days ago! An American guy had a huge tat of a cow on his pot belly with the arseh*le situated where his belly button was!:D Fantastic!

My Dad wasn't smothered with tatts, but he did have quite a few, anyway, that's neither here nor there.

What disturbs me about tatts is the very point you make, "if it's something you believe in strongly enough". All of us at some stage strongly believe in an issue, or a cause, or an event, or whatever, that is fine, BUT what happens when you change your mind?

Trust me, as we grow older opinions change, prioritys change, hell even some issues disappear. That is a given, not speculation, so how do you put up with a very permanent tattoo?

A tatt that may even cause public disdain 20 years from now, a tatt that may horrify a prospective future girlfriend/wife.

Any one of a million things could happen which will make you despise your tatt, but what do you do, tatts are permanent.

Sure, this is all guess work, it may not happen this way for you, but I'm betting it will happen this way for plenty of tatt branded people.

As for "body art", sure that's cool, why not do what they did in the 60's, use paint that will wash off, you've made a fashion statement, you get rid of it, and the following week you can make a different fashion statement.

Like I said, tatts make no sense to me

I would never get a fashion tattoo, something common like a butterfly, rose, barbed wire etc. I got a Tatt of my team, that is something I will always love & never be sorry I got, I wouldn't get a Tatt of an American Indian, or Chinese symbols, because they are just fads, once the fad changes you are stuck with it.

I am getting a tattoo that signifies my family's origins. Am getting the Stadtwappen (coat of arms) from where my family is from in Germany. I am immensely proud of my German heritage and this will never change. It is not a fad or a fashion statement - it has personal significance to me and will always remain so.
