Forecast to reach Category 5 sometime tomorrow morning just off the Whitsundays. He's a monster and looks to be winding his way down the coast. Can only hope he crosses somewhere realtively unpopulated.

Grim and the rest of our far northern counterparts, stay safe.

Very much a weather watcher so have been following this closely. Tracking a pretty scary path really.

Monster allright.

If I am in Yeppoon, Rocky or Gladstone right now I am investigating best places to evacuate too.

Thanks TFB. I'm not normally a weather watcher but the dog and I have been keeping a sharp eye. I am 30kms (about 4mms) south of Mackay, right on the coast, and so far the weather has been rather mild (slight breeze, slight drizzle).

All things going as forecasted, it should keep skipping down the coast Grim and spare you the worst of it, but I imagine with the rain you're having, the high tides and a bit of a storm surge, there may well be some flooding around your neck of the woods.

Mackay is quite a low lying area, so flooding is a problem, especially for the coastal properties of Sarina. Fortunately my house is on a hill. I live on a peninsula and there is only one road out, so the main concern for me is that I don't get flooded in.

uh oh, I had a Serbian friend ask me just last week what was a good place to stay in up the coast, and I recommended Sarina Beach.

He was supposed to be arriving there this weekend. :shockfacething:

Not too bad. It has been blowy with moderate rain, but it has died down just at the minute. It's nowhere near as heavy as what there was with the floods a month ago.
