IN: Lappin, DeLuca, McLaren
OUT: French, Kennedy, McGrath

B: Carrazzo Thornton Bannister
HB: Scotland DeLuca Houlihan
C: Simpson Bentick Walker
HF: Waite Whitnall Koutoufides
F: Lappin Fevola Betts
FOLL: McLaren Stevens Blackwell
INTER: Russell O'hAilpin Fisher Bryan

French has to go - badly out of form. McLaren while not setting world on fire is only obvios replacement as we have no other ruck options apart from Bryan. Seems strange but I would give DeLuca first crack at CHB on Pavlich - he has pace for a big man and height to drop back into the hole when needed. If it does not work then simply put Lance back there but would like to see Red start in the F50 this week to stretch the Dockers defence. All out attack is the way to go if we are any chance this week:thumbsu:
McGrath unlucky but he will make way for Matty Lappin.Kennedy needs a run back in the twos to regain some much needed confidence.
My prediction: Blues in a boilover 10 points:)

In: Lappin, Wiggins (if avail else McClaren)
Out: French, Fisher/Waite

Lappin in to replace Fisher/Waite to give one of these boys a run in the two's to get some polish back.

French good bloke but too slow for a fast Fremantle outfit and I think Bryan could handle the center ruck with help from Kouta/Whitnall/Sentanta around the ground.

If Fremantle have a few sighted at the tribunal and an injury or two we're a chance.

I think Carlton by 47.

French is needed this week against man mountain. You guys have no idea.

In: Lappin
Out: Kennedy (needs 4 quarters in VFL).

Out: French, Fisher and McGrath
In: McLaren, Lappin and Jackson

It could be Smith instead of Jackson but I think either way it wouldn't be a bad idea to get another midfielder/utility into the team to make it less top heavy. Fisher, Waite, Kennedy and Fevola is too many talls unless they're all playing well and Fisher is clearly rusty.

I don't think French would beat his opponent, saying that neither would Bryan. The only way we can win this is to have as much mobility as possible and agility as possible. Bryan is more agile, quicker and a better kick. The way the umpires have been bouncing the ball lately in the centre it's almost becoming farcical that we prob will get our fair share of the ball being bounced more to our side of the square.

I would also love to see Bryan have a couple of free's given to him during the bounce and he just winds up and kicks the goals.

Either way we'll be lucky to win 25% of hitouts against Sandilands. Better to have a couple of more mobile rucks to stop him around the ground and shark his taps from the centre, like we have to most teams this year.

(Edit) JJ got in just before me. I agree

Have you been watching French lately?? Sandilands will dominate the ruck regardless who we play! So we cut our losses and try and make up by winning matchups elsewhere - forward line to have a day out would be nice:)

French is the only ruckman we have who could match him body on body.
That is crucial around the ground. He might not win tap outs (who does against him) but atleast he can match him physically.

Anything or anyone else is suicide.

Agree - i'd keep French this week. Give Kennedy a run in the twos and bring back Lappin.

I also think Teague's a chance this week as an option to negate Farmer. Not sure though - he's been playing well for the Bullants but for Carlton has been so useless this year.

Teague on Farmer?

Considering how quick Farmer is we might as well start Betts in the ruck against Sandilands!

What I would enjoy seeing is Pagan making Steven's tag someone this game.

Instead of hearing Stevens whinge about always getting tagged let him try to tag someone and show us that he can be accountable.

Wouldn't play Teague this week, becoming too disruptive constantly dropping him and playing him.

Why should McGrath be dropped? The guy was pretty much the only player creating space for us on Saturday. I admit his handball in the dying minutes was pathetic but that was one of MANY clangers from the entire team on the weekend and I don't think he should be punished for that, particularly when there are other guys in the team who should be dropped first.

I agree. Thought he was far from our worst. Puts on good defensive pressure, tackles hard.

I wish we could drop Stevens, after whatever that effort was on the weekend.

I'd trade him for a pick in the range of 10-15, in this draft.

Why should he be played ahead of kids?

We need to see what Jackson can do and giving him a go this week isn't going to cost us the four points.

Russell should stay in the side.

Everyone is dead keen to drop McGrath, I take it no-one watched the game ?

Lappin has been poor. Very poor. ONe of my favourite players, so being named in the best one week into his tim ein the room of mirrors dosent cut it.

Stevens.

I think it is past time to try out Jackson. Last week as I recall from the informative posts of others there edwards kicked (5?) and raso, jackson, flint bower, smith were all in the best for their respective sides. Seems like a bottle neck of talent, might have to delive some of that pressure and elevate a rookie.
(Geeze im getting quick at typing that..........).

If you wanted him traded for a decent pick the last thing you'd do is drop him.

I wouldn't drop Stevo because he does do some good things occasionaly, however I would like to see a rookie elevated before the year's end.

I think Fisher could do with a run in the two's. Waite took some good contested marks on the weekend but that's about it but I would persist with him for this week and see how he goes.

In: Jackson (elevated from rookie list)
Out: Fisher

Jackson is not in the mix, believe me. Not even close. He will be a run with the remainder of the season just as smith had too.It may seem wrong to do this to young guys but it is the carlton way. THEY like them to learn to be accountable. Smith has done his apprentiship and was allowed to play the way he knows on sunday against port and finished with 27 possys.Jacko had a run with role with nahas, did ok too. But to assume he will be elevated is far too premature.Sorry to burst your bubble but thems the facts. I quite like the way jacko plays his footy but i am a realist.

Well thats absolutely NOT what Pagan has been saying.......do you know something he dosent ?

Some of the matchups suggested on this thread are absolute crackers.

DeLuca on Pavlich............Teague on Farmer.

Very funny stuff.
