Nicks was overated, Cressa 10 times the player. Nicks what kicked 8-7 in one game and was a very handy player, but no where near the class of Cresswell

Agreed, i know all that, i just loved Nicks for some reason. He was just that, a handy player who could go down back and stop a mid or small forward or bob up up forward and kick a few. Cresswell deserves to be in there over him as we both have said.

Would agree Creswell was the superior player but definately not a better bloke:thumbsd:Old Nicksy was always a bit of a whipping boy of yours Bedford but being the astute judge of a footballer you are i have to agree Nicks did have some faults to his game but Egotistical Eade stuffed him up when he moved him from Half back to a wing to pinch hitting forward. Will set your judgement a task and ask you who you think was the better player Nicks or Saddington and i dont want to hear about Saddo having to play on monsters because Barry and Dunkley made their names doing it.Ha Ha:thumbsu:
Wolf , i would agree with the better bloke bit as Nicks never ripped of his mates, but if both Nicks and Saddo were up for a trade to another club Saddington would have gone first !

Nicks' for some reason went on a downward spiral when Roos took over as coach.

In 2001-early 2002 i could really see Nicks gain a bigger leadership role with his consistent performances but it just tailed off quickly over the last 2 years of his career.

Mind you his job on a red hot Phillip Matera in the 03 elimination final at a stormy Telstra Stadium would be one of his main highlights of his career.

Based on games played alone, this would be the team (number in brackets is the number of games they played)

Code:
B: C.Bolton (165) Barry (188) Mathews (177)
HB: Kennelly (158) LRT (119) Crouch (182)
C: Fosdike (151) Kirk (212) Ablett (133)
HF: Goodes (232) Hall (198) ROK (186)
F: McVeigh (123) O'Loughlin (202) Buchanan (116)
R: Jolly (118) J.Bolton (224) Williams (117)

Int: Bevan (108) Maxfield (108) Nicks (102) Schneider (98)
Emg: Davis (97) Saddington (97) Ball (90)

Very harsh on the great players who retired early in the decade.

Any team with that squib Schneider in it would have problems, except for the 05 Prelim when the front runner kicked three in the last against his present scum club.
