I think we're up ******** creek. King and Harley can't possibly be fit, and will get run around all day. I was struggling to see how we would go without Playfair, but with Ottens out as well, we are really in trouble. Someone has to play at CHF and play the game of their lives, that being either Mooney or Lonergan. On the upside, we may get to see what Prismall's all about.

How Koulouriotis didnt get named i may never know..

We are gonna get humiliated...Im not even gonna bother watching this one because i will be throwing punches by the end of it.. Its basically brisbane vs geelong vfl side..

ARGH IM ********ED OFF ALREADY

It looks as though the gfc side fielded for this game will be one of the worst in quite a while. Cannot believe Mcarthy and koula didn't even get named on the bench.

We're going to get humiliated because Koula hasn't been given a game?

Three weeks ago many people were putting Paul forward as a candidate for delisting/trading, and now you want him in after two above-average games in a row? He'll play when he's ready and he's needed in the side. Rahilly has been performing at a consistent high level for much longer than Paul has. Perhaps a little patience would help here. The club are putting the best side they can on the paddock on Sunday.

We've been beaten by lesser teams than that at the Gabba this year.

Don't be so quick to write your boys off.

Look at our interchange. Chambers, Haynes and Rahilly are the only ones who have experience of that lot and they've only played a combined total of 2(?) games this year, both to Chambers (I can't remember the last time Rahilly played a game), Byrnes is the only one who regularly gets a game and the others have played about 5 games between them. King and Harley probably won't play and if they do will be on a combined 2 legs. So in short, we'll probably be missing our top 2 ruckmen, 3 quarters of our spine, one of our best midfielders this year and numerous others. There sure is a lot to look forward to. :(

Here is the Lions squad for those interested.

B: Chris Johnson, 2, Mal Michael, 15, Josh Drummond, 39

HB: Jed Adcock, 7, Justin Leppitsch, 23, Luke Power, 6

C: Tim Notting, 8, Michael Voss , 3, Jason Akermanis, 12

HF: Troy Selwood, 28, Jonathan Brown , 16, Ash McGrath, 9

F: Anthony Corrie, 18, Daniel Bradshaw, 36, Justin Sherman, 29

R: Clark Keating, 27, Nigel Lappin, 44, Simon Black , 20

I/C (from): Dylan McLaren, 25, Chris Scott, 22, Daniel Merrett, 21, Darryl White, 33, Robert Copeland, 30, Brad Scott, 5, Joel Macdonald, 26

Still no Jamie Charman! Argh!

Good to see the veteran Darryl White back, he's been showing some good touch with the Suncoast Lions.

Odds are we will be under the pump from the word go. Personally i still think it is possible to defeat the lions.

Looking at there lineup Adcock, Sherman, Drummond, Corrie, Selwood, Mclaren and Merret have played very few AFL games. Most youngsters have up and down games and a few of them are due for a bad one.

A few of brisbanes more experienced players are either carrying an injury or coming back from an injury.

If our defence can stand solid like it has been known to be then i think that we could be able to put a winning score on the board.

Playing a relatively small forward line should be the way to go. Have kingsley playing out of the goal square while mackie and gardiner present up the ground.
Haynes can float around the forward line while Ablett and co get some crumbs from spoils etc.

Overall if we can use our pace to our advantage, play hard footy and have good disposal we are a chance to defeat brissy.

No hard feelings guys - I honestly hope you guys win the flag if we can't (and that's not looking too likely) but its hard to be sympathetic about your injuries. If the side we've named lines up it will be easily the best we've put on the paddock this year and if Lappin plays this will be the first time the fab 5 has played together in 2005. With Hadlee's early demise and injuries/ suspensions inhibiting Voss, Lappin, Power, B.Scott and Black all year, its been the midfield where we've really struggled this year with no depth for rotations. Its kind of nice to strike a good side like Geelong with a long injury list though I truly hope your guys are back on deck quickly after the week off.

With us running into some form finally and your injuries you would think Brisbane should win but I take nothing for granted. You guys have still got enough class to be a threat and some of our young guys are probably due for a bad one as someone else pointed out. You will need your midfielders to kick goals to kick I winning score I imagine so I can only hope Copeland and Selwood can keep the pressure on Chapman and Ablett and I worry about Riccardi coming off the bench.

Funny thing how we've struggled all year to get anything near our best side on the field and we finally get close to it and we come up against a good side that has a lot of injuries. Hopefully we can take the chance we've been presented. You have to take your luck when you get it in such an even competition but at the same time a win against the odds would all but seal you blokes a top 4 berth come seasons end I reckon.

the only reason i have given us any hope is the fact that brisbane have lost to lesser sides at the gabba.
with the injuries we have our structure is up ******** creek and we really shouldnt win.

we have been losing the game we should be winning, lets hope we can do the opposite to that this weekend.

I still think we are a chance as long as we win more of the ball around the stoppages and Kingsly decideds to kick straight.

Of course we're not gonna get humiliated coz he isnt playing...just dont know how the selectors could possibly leave him out...we r gonna get humiliated coz 10 other players are out!

Perhaps they believe Rahilly and Prismall have done more or are better suited to playing in Brisbane.

I'm feeling quite pessimistic about the game. I feel our only hope is to win the midfield battle and have Ablett/Chapman kick us half a dozen goals.

The 2-week break will do the injured players some good so in a way, I hope King and Harley don't play just to give them the extra time to recover.

flew up to the gold coast yday for a few days of relaxing on the beach, hitting a few clubs on caville ave and the casino.
With the injuries yes they r bad but we have had a pretty good run this year, i feel the Lions r struggling and am not convinced there back just yet, we just need a ver even effort from all the boys and maybe for gazza and chapman to bag a few goals, sitting back here on my 7th bourbon i am feeling pretty good about this weekend and feel we can get the job done, i to hope that King and harley don't play if there not right, stil can't beleive Rahilly is going to get a game, just shows how many injuries we have cause he just cant hit targets

della!

Given our culture, this is the kind of game we would usually win. Good to see Prismall get a game, as I said on the blog people are really going to like this guy in the coming seasons and dare I say it, he'll be better than Brent Moloney.

King & Harley both in.....interesting...how fit are they?

EDIT - Found this
On a positive note, defender Tom Harley trained strongly, after being a late withdrawal before Geelong's clash with Adelaide last Sunday. Harley has been battling a hip complaint, and showed no ill effects during Friday's hour-long session.

(Sorry, just sticking my nose in....)

I don't really understand the lack of confidence here.

Everyone seems to be jumping on the Lions, but their last 2 wins have been against possibly the 2 worst teams in the comp right now...and a win over Essendon who are 14th.
You guys are quite obviously a level (or 3) above these teams.

Hopefully the news about Harley is correct... I really like your chances of winning.
