The Saints will field an unchanged line-up as they look to consolidate their place in the eight with a win against Hawthorn at Telstra Dome on Saturday.

St Kilda is one of four teams sitting on six wins and is in seventh spot on the ladder by virtue of a superior percentage.

Veteran onballer Robert Harvey retains his spot in the side despite appearing to sustain a serious hamstring injury during the 63-point loss to Adelaide before the break.

Sam Gilbert, Allan Murray and Mark McGough are the emergencies.

Hawthorn regains an experienced trio but has lost patience with out-of-form forward Mark Williams, dropping the 23-year-old for the first time this season.

Skipper Richie Vandenberg and hard-at-it utility Brent Guerra are back after serving their respective suspensions while Trent Croad has recovered after missing the past two matches with a wrist injury that required surgery.

"With these three experienced players coming back in the side there was obviously going to be some pressure on out of form players," Hawks football manager Mark Evans said on Thursday night.

"I am sure (Mark) will respond with good form for Box Hill on the weekend to stake his claim for a return to the Hawthorn side as soon as possible."

Ben McGlynn and Tom Murphy were also omitted from the side that defeated Richmond by 41 points down in Launceston a fortnight ago.

Murphy has been named as an emergency along with Zac Dawson and Matt Ball.

It's yours for the taking now that we've dropped Williams.
It's not that he kicks a bag every week. It's more the fact that opposition taggers are frightened he will, and while they go about throwing their resources on Willo, players like Dixon and Roughhead are free to take fairly uncontested marks or get the easy run through space.
Your odds of winning have improved immesurably.

Harvey did have hamstring tightness and decided to take himself off the field, I thought that the scans confirmed that there was a tear and the standard three week layoff would ensue. It seems the Harves has learned not to push it any further when he feels an injury and this possibly has reduced the length of convalescence.

I was surprised too.

I am a little disappointed that McGough didn't get a run too. This leaves Luke Ball to contest for the majority of first possessions against one of the best first possession / clearance midfields in the league.

(Although it does seem unlikely that Xavier Clarke will be able to line up, so one of the emergencies is likely to get a run, I have a 33.33 % chance of getting my wish - McGough to play)
