West Coast ruckman Mark Seaby will make his return to senior football for this Saturday’s Sydney clash at ANZ Stadium, his impressive form at WAFL level for West Perth rewarded at the selection table as West Coast searches for its first victory on the road against one of its closest rivals.

The stoppage-heavy game style of the Swans provides Seaby with the opportunity to support ruckman Dean Cox, and he will be looking to cement his place in the team after his efforts in the season opener against Brisbane.

Ruled out for last week’s clash with Melbourne due to injury, key midfielder Matt Priddis (thigh) and defenders Mitch Brown (hamstring) and Eric Mackenzie (calf) will return to the side at the expense of youngsters Will Schofield and Matt Spangher.

The inclusions will add experience to the side which was pushed to the limit by the Demons at Subiaco last Sunday.

Ball magnet Daniel Kerr will also miss the trip to Sydney with a groin strain, while swingman Adam Hunter, due to play his 150th game for the club, will undertake another course of treatment for a troublesome shoulder injury in the interests of his longer term future.

The club joins Sydney on three wins for the season and the opponents sit side by side on the premiership ladder, indicating the stoush could replicate past close encounters. Seven of the past eight games between the sides have been decided by two goals or less, including six consecutive matches won by a total of 13 points.

i like the look of our team alot actually..
tbh i reckon we do actually needs seabs for this one, the guy has soimething to prove to so will be going hard at it..

With Hunter out, do you think Brown will spend time in the forward line?

Good to see Mackenzie, Priddis and Brown back in. As well as Cockie starting in the middle!!11!!!1!!!!!

*Awaits Wally's rant at Spangher being dropped after just 1 game at senior level again*

Interesting, I think Ebert and Schofield will probably travel with the team.
Schofield I thought was a shoe in to keep his spot, seeing as he can also play forward and Wing.
Also Glad to see Woosha giving JMAC and Cockstar the starting spot in the Middle, This will throw Sydney off a bit and we might jump out to a handy lead early (hopefully).:thumbsu:

Edit: Whith these inclusions and the fact that Stenglein hasn't even been named as an EMG do you guys think like I do that this could spell the end for him.
I think this is the type of game that suits Him as well, Looks like we are following Ess and Freo's lead and playing the inform youngsters.
In The Rack at seasons End: Stenglein, Fletcher, Hunter- Who else

i reckon he'll play a floating role, picking up jolly when he goes forward and swinging forward when kennedy and lynch have spells on the pine..
who remembers browns debut against sydney at this ground??
lets hope he has a game alike that one.

It's just the Thursday night team, no guarantee of how they'll line up on Saturday.

Woosha could have named Masten in the ruck and Glassy in a forward pocket if he'd wanted to.

Generally the starting 18 dont change.
Love the move of Masten in the forward pocket as well, He has showed hes good at chumbing the ball when it hits the deck and this may also mean that he will be able to run the games out better.

Good to get Priddis back in we will need him for his clearance work. Seaby probably not a bad option. Gives them a chance to either rest Seaby or Cox forward as a marking option with no Hunter. Mitch Brown could even play across Half Forward. This game could really suit Cockie and i'd expect his Tackle count to be high. JMac and Buts will also have to step up at the stoppages and play well otherwise Kirk and J.Bolton will just get on top. Thought maybe Ebert/Schofield could be a better option to give us more midfield grunt rather than play Mckinley. Then just use Masten, lecras as smaller forwards along with lynch, Kennedy, Brown, Cox/Seaby.

I'm happy with these ins/outs.

I thought for sure one of Stenglein or Fletcher might have got a call up to go against Sydney. Good to see the selection committee sticking to their guns. Sends a pretty clear message to those two vets about whats expected from them now. No easy games for anyone.

Seaby in is good and hopefully he has a monster game, its smart selection against Sydney. Coxy will need the help and hopefully they can do a number on Jolly.

I was there for Brown's debut at ANZ in 07... awesome first half in particular. I don't think he'll be thrown forward though. Lynch back to FF I think, with Brown playing down back (or maybe following Goodes??? No Stinger, no Staker, no Spangher....Selwood snr just seems too small to go with Goodes).

Can't wait for the game! Stupid Ticketek!!! Only get 8 tix at a time online!!! Stupid Ticketek!!!

Carn boys! Bring those kicking boots with ya and we might have a chance!;)

Pumped for this game. Swans are out of touch so hopefully we can capitalise.

I wouldnt' expect Brown to go forward with the Big Q there to replace Hunter.

Very happy with the changes. Good to see Seaby got another game, about time the coaching staff came to their senses their. Priddis back in is good as we will need him around the clearances.

Man I'm so pumped for this game but I can't f***ing watch it cos I live in Adelaide and the Crows game is on FTA and Foxtel :mad::mad:

Good in's..

Although a bit surprised Stenglein hasnt even made it on as an emergency.

With Kerr out and no-one for the Swans to tag it will be interesting to see who Kirk goes to?? Maybe Priddis (if he plays) or A. Selwood? This might actually work in our favour.

While it's good to Seaby back in after playing well for the last month, we all know we'll be back in here on Monday tearing strips off him. He's just not AFL standard, but it's good to see some support for Cox.

Naita in the side within the month.

Generally the starting 18 dont change.
On what do you base that? Where they are named is completely irrelevant
Love the move of Masten in the forward pocket as well, He has showed hes good at chumbing the ball when it hits the deck and this may also mean that he will be able to run the games out better.
Case in point. Masten has been named in the centre for the last 2 games, but has lined up forward for both

I'd like to see Seaby traded for a draft upgrade since we're bound to get virtually nothing for him.
We don't need any 4th round pick for Seaby for example, since we're going to finish rather low on the ladder and possibly only taking 4 in the draft.

Staker too should be shopped around. We may find some value for him considering the physical attributes he has. Someone may take the punt on him thinking they can get a lot more out of him.

Time for Seaby to build up his trade value.

The only trade he's in danger of is being traded to another WAFL club as there is no way another AFL team will want him next year.

Seabs has to be on his last chance with the 'Never to play again' stamp inked and poised to fall should he fail to deliver

One of the rare Eagles games coming FTA into Melbourne this Saturday night.

I like that balance, even Seaby. We need someone in there because the Cox and Lynch thing isn't working. It is but only just. Cox isn't as effective around the ground.

Reckon we might give this one a shake. What are the odds?
