Saw a title of this vein on Bay 13, but I don't think it was worth clikcing in.

but the topic is interesting - I gather like most sports fan people have had an interest in a variety of other sports over the years

so who have they been?

for me

Aussie Rules

Waikerie Magpies - Grew up in Waikerie, still retain an interest were I can.

Glenelg Tigers - apparently as a young kid I followed them (I'm talking sub 10)

Hawthorn Hawks - as above, Dad reckons he used to watch VFL highlights and I thought they looked like Glenelg (clearly we didn't watch any Richmond games :D )

Collingwood Magpies - as a young teenager, given the Magpies Moniker, supported till the mid 90's then followed closely until Eddie took over.

Norwood FC - I moved to Adelaide, in the Norwood zone back in the 90's, been a supporter/member since.

Adelaide Crows - as above, moved to Adelaide began attending games more often been a member near on 7 years supporter since the mid 90's.

Gridiron

Bills/Chargers - Used to love watching the ABC gridiron highlights as a kid, used to follow the Buffalo Bills then the Oakland Chargers- still love watching the Gridiron but probably don't have a "team"

Soccer

Adelaide City - I went to a North Eastern College so that was the team they all followed.

Adelaide United - got on the bandwagon somewhat, still try to get to games.

Newcastle United - Magpies moniker and Alan Shearer

Port Vale United - Started following them in the late 90's due to Fifa '97 interest fell off about 3 years ago as it was simply too hard to get info/highlights.

Ice Hockey

Detriot Redwings – again comes from console game play, had a mate mad into NHL we used to watch the highlights and the odd live game on Fox, he was a Flyers fan, again lack of time and access so interest has waned.

Basketball –

Charlotte Hornets - like all kids growing up in the 80’s/90’s I was into the NBA (who knows why) and used to follow the Hornets, same theme time and lack of access and realising Basketball really wasn’t that interesting meant I don’t follow the Charlotte Bobcats….

Car Racing

HRT - Drive a Holden, directly related to a Holden dealer so it all made sense, never really got into the "team" stuff but loved going along, even got myself to Bathurst. Haven't really followed over the last couple of years.

I assume I am not the only multiple sport watcher on the boards?

Sturt fan in the SANFL.

Prior to the Crows I basically barracked for whichever VFL teams had Sturt players in their team. Viney/Melbourne, Russell/Collingwood, Motley/Carlton, Dilena/Fitzroy, Lennon/Richmond, Kitschke/St Kilda, Welsby/Geelong... Carlton probably #1 if I had to choose because Motley was my favourite player.

Redbacks.

Used to watch the 36'ers but lost interest.

Also follow Liverpool in the EPL.

Other than that my major sport passions are local Adelaide football/cricket teams that I have an involvement with as player/coach.

No interest in any US sports.

NFL- Philadelphia Eagles. Love the Eagles, and love supporting the NFL. Best thing is: its seasons perfectly alternate with

NBA- Chicago Bulls. Probably a bit of MJ bandwagoning initially, but i've stuck with them. Devo about D-Rose atm.

NHL- Chicago Blackhawks. This stems back to NHLPA 93 on the Sega. The Backhawks team in that game was amazing, with Jeremy Roenick dominant, Balfour in goals, and Chelios in defense.

MLB- Philadelphia Phillies. Only casually follow this out of sympathy for long suffering Philly fans.

English Soccer- Birmingham. Ok, admittedly I really dislike soccer, but my dad was born in England, and has a soft spot for the Blues so if they actually do half decent at anything I support them. Winning the Carling Cup last year was kind of cool.

SANFL/VFL/AFL: As a girl I followed Carlton (Dad followed Collingwood until he started working for Carlton, at which time I was torn!). Met my hubby who was from Adelaide and had supported and played Colts with South Adelaide (his family all supported North Adelaide) and he followed Carlton in the VFL (mainly because their colours were the same as South, and also because they had some great South Australians playing for them). My first live game of VFL was at the age of 18 when hubby (then boyfriend) took me to Melbourne to see Carlton and South Melbourne play. Have always had a soft spot for Sydney because of that. And of course, we live in Brisbane now (in the early days, we lived on the Gold Coast when the Brisbane Bears were born). So, I have a soft spot for Brisbane too. But NOT when they play Adelaide. We went to a lot of State of Origin matches and I soon loved and adopted the "kick a Vic" mentality. As soon as Adelaide was born, we became members and supporters and haven't looked back since. Been to both grand finals and are proud to be associated with the Club.

Don't really follow any other ball sport in Australia other than Cricket - and probably like both the Bulls and Redbacks equally. Also cheer for the QLDers in the State of Origin in the Rugby league, but not really a huge fan.

Avid followers of American baseball after living in North America for 6 years. Followed Oakland A's when we lived in San Francisco and Toronto Blue Jays when we lived in Toronto. Have seen both teams play each other several times.

I loved the Ice hockey (hubby didn't like it) and followed the Toronto Maple Leafs on the quiet.

First post, hey all

Born in Victoria, lived there till I was 7, then moved to Adelaide

Essendon -lived in Victoria so still my no 1 team

Adelaide Crows- Since living in Adelaide have supported them just behind Essendon. Modra was playing when i was around 9-10 so it was an awesome era to witness.

Liverpool FC- Was heavily in 'Football' when I was younger, fell out of it and regained interest in 2005 during the qualification, Liverpool was my team when I was younger so naturally followed them again. Every game I watch live on Fox Sports whether it 9pm at night or 3 am, ive only missed watching around 3 games in the last 4-5 years.

Boston Red Sox- When Liverpool's new owners bought them around 18-24 months ago I become interested in baseball seeing as the owners also ran them as well...Awesome sport, can only tolerate watching one game a week though as it can get boring at times..haha

Boston Celtics- Always loved basketball, started following the Celt's when I started following the Red Sox,

Special mention to Adelaide United, was a member there for 4 years up until last year, mis-managed club, poor buys and an attitude of not going after the best players have left me dumb founded and they will never get money from me again..has left a extremely poor taste in my mouth

Cheers
