I havent heard anything about it all week after expecting a story. Anybody got any first hand information on how the surface looks?

There was an article during the week, something along the lines of "Ground inspection alleviates Cat's Fears".

When you read the article, all it said was that the weather was expected to be fine and that there wouldn't be rugby league played there the week before as it was last time.

Responses from the Geelong camp were still "we'll have to wait and see".
Nothing about the Cat's fears being alleviated at all.

Magazine journalism: Storys rarely match the headline.
As for the actual ground condition...can't help you, sorry.:(

no matter what the condition is like the afl is always going to say its fit for afl games, no way theu ever admit there is a problem.

Here's a more recent one about the ground surface from The Age:

Sydney surface still a concern for Cats

Geelong are not yet satisfied the ANZ Stadium's surface is suitable for Saturday night's AFL clash with Sydney.

The quality of the ground's surface was criticised after the Collingwood-Sydney game on July 5.

That game was marred by turf coming free with players struggling to maintain their footing.

While the AFL said on Monday they had no issue with the surface for tomorrow night's game, Geelong coach Mark Thompson said today the club was yet to give it the all-clear.

"We haven't ticked it off," Thompson said before flying out of Melbourne this morning.

"I think the AFL are up there checking it right now and we'll obviously have a look at it later on today.

"We wanted it to be suitable to play an AFL game, we will demand that.

"We're going out there today to train and we'll certainly have a look at it up close."

The result is still much the same:rolleyes:

Been fine and dry in Sydney for the past seven days.

ANZ stadium did not host any football of any code last weekend and will not have been played on for 14 days.

It should be in good nick, but possibly a bit slippery with dew because it's been so cold and clear all week.
