Interesting to note that Borg has a better record in Grand Slams than Roger Federer, yet often gets overlooked when talking about the 'greatest' players ever. I left out Rod Laver, as his record is difficult to do given the amateur/pro period, however i suspect it could be about 75%.

I suspect Borg not rated as highly in this country at least because he only played the Australian Open once, and never won the US Open. It's a couple of big holes in his resume.
Borg would have annihilated every single record there is had he had a longer career, Easily 17-18 slams he could have won

If. He didn't. He also didn't win 2 out of the 4 slams, which makes breaking a lot of the records pretty hard.

I remember watching him, so I know how good he was. In any case, even if he had won 17-18 slams, well, Federer nearly has anyway, and he's still going strong. 20 isn't out of the question.

Wasn't really a post to stir debate, but just interesting given the recent GOAT debates etc.

Lendl's grand slam record not too shabby either - Underrated?

I think we must remember that up until the 1980s the Australian Open was a slam in name only so for instance Margaret Court's exceptional stats come with a huge asterisk given the preponderance of AOs in her CV. Frankly the AO only became a bona fide slam in the past 2 to 3 decades.

Borg may be a little underrated in Australia but among those old enough to remember the classive Connors/Borg/McEnroe era ( count me in there) he is widely regarded as up with Federer and Laver among the top 3 Open Era players - not quite there perhaps with Laver and Fed but certainly comparable. A slam is a slam but Wimbledon is without question the top prize and 5 in a row there stands huge in Open era history.

I wish you had have gone to the trouble to make your research presentable. Present data in tables, and a graph would have been nice too. Anyway, just looking at the women, I added Chris Evert because I knew her stats were phenomenal. She played 56 grand slam singles tournaments, for 34 finals, 18 wins, 52 semi-finals and 54 quarter-finals.

At Wimbledon 1983, Evert had a severe bout of food poisoning and asked for her 3rd round match to be delayed. Her request was denied and in the first time in her 35 Grand Slam career, she failed to at least make the semi-finals. The only other time she failed to at least make the quarter-finals was when she ran into a young Arantxa Sánchez Vicario in the 3rd round of the French in 1988.

Overall, Chris Evert had a 90% winning record, better than that of Navratilova and Graf. I don't think there is an official win-loss record for Margaret Court.
