Terrorism searches in London

Well just when I thought I'd had it all!! Not just like going through an airport where you expect it...strewth I was catching a country train!

I was entering Kings Cross Station (overland) in London to catch a train to Huntingdon (near Cambridge) and PC Plod stopped me and asked to search me in relation to the terrorism act here:

Terrorism Act 2000 PART V COUNTER-TERRORIST POWERS Suspected terrorists 43. Search of persons.

As expected I complied, giving no reason for any hassles basically laughing thinking this will be a great laugh with everyone back home.

I was wearing as the police report notes- blue jeans, a jacket (hell it was pouring rain that sounds sus!) and white/blue runners am 5 ft 11 of proportionate build, short brown hair and carrying a black rucksack (actually it was small grey day pack with a black stripe!). I identifed my self as a white Australian as opposed I presume to a terrorist sympathiser/terrorist that maybe they thought I was??? Maybe its the beard I have started growing?? lol

The bag search goes as expected...no evidence of explosives or anything associated with terrorist activity la di da and I get a copy of the police report after Plod has taken my name address etc. I would post it if I had a scanner!

Hey at least they ask q's now and shoot later as opposed to that poor Spanish guy!

Anyone else had any funny security experiences??

Maybe he was just bitter about the 5-0 Ashes series!

If you were an Asian Male then they would have had you down Scotters, stripped search. These are the things that have to happen i guess if we want a safer society, 5/10 mins out of your time and not getting bombed to pieces, seems ok to me.

Maybe you looked a bit Irish, they were terrorising us long before these "Islamic Jihadists"

I DO see your point, and it's not fair that out civil liberties have been diminsihed but that's just the way society is today...

How strange considering you are a white male, I think it was clearly a case of bitterness over the Ashes
I have a few Indian and Arabic friends who get hasseled no end whenever they travel overseas (specifically coming back into Australia) that they try and travel as little as possible now. Still I suppose vigilance is needed, and it's a shame that a few Muslim extremists have made it difficult for EVERYONE travelling who even remotely may appear Arabic

Who said that Muslim extremists have to look arabic, do you have to come from a certain country to be a muslim? Do you have to be white? Who says there aren't other groups wanting to blow up London? one of the 7/7 bombers was of African origin...

There was a doco on it the other night, I didn't realise he was African when it first occurred but the doco made it clear all 3 were Muslim. I never said it's only Muslims, just that in this instance they were indeed Islamic.

Plus I was commenting on how society generalises Arabs as being Muslims.

yeah no one is perfect going back to year dot. think about the Christian crusaders, colonialisation etc etc. Just a shame that the minority makes rise to a problem with the majority.

The Maurauding Jocks, the world is just so feggered up atm. Even people of the same religion killing each other and seems especially bad from The Middle East and Eastwards, might be easier to go and live on an Island off Scotland.

Legimatic, there were 4 men on 7/7, one was a Muslim of African origin and the other 3 were British Muslims, probably makes the whole thing harder to take.

I think you're barking up the wrong tree there. Blame Bush and America. They are the ones eroding freedom and liberty.
