As a closet knicks fan I must say they have really shored up their roster and in the piss weak east have a fair chance of going far next season

Starting Lineup

C-Curry
PF-Zach Randolph
SF-Quentin Richardson was a great outside shooter before injuries hit
SG-Crawford,again was really starting to gel before being injured
Pg-Starbury

Bench

Lee-my fave player outside the Spurs,he is the perfect compliment to Curry and Randolph with his energy and hustle, can see some huge rebounding numbers next year get him in your fantasy team
Jared Jeffries -Decent long-armed defender who had a poor year
Nate Robinson-needs to learn to guide the team better
Renaldo Balkman -another good hustler off the bench
Jerome James -dud bigman who has a big body
Malik Rose -old pro,who is a bit past it,good for the kids
Wilson Chandler -new rookie who is supposed to be a good hard bodied defender
Fred Jones
Mardy Collins-good for hitting Carmelo
Kelvin Cato -good for 5 fouls a game

Is probably missing a good swingman off the bench who can hit a three,so Q might go here and a dependable pass first PG(i.e Knight)are staked at the PF and C positions

As I said I can see the knicks doing some damage, need a bit of luck with injuries, but so does every other team. They have definatly improved whilest the East seems to get weaker

Thoughts?

Not exactly a defensive juggernaut there.

Not the flexibility to play an up tempo offensive game either. Two big guys that need the pill down low who don't create for anyone but themselves. Another long year ahead.

Aside from the defensive shortcomings and such, the ZBo/Curry frontcourt has the potential to cause alot of teams problems going the other (or one) way.

That starting line-up will cause the Knicks as many headaches as their opposition.

I'd be starting Balkman and having Crawford or Q in an instant offense 6th man role.

They will improve... don't know if they will quite the playoffs as yet though.

I'd have the Bulls, Cavs, Pistons, Wizards, Raptors, Nets, Heat and probably the Celtics ahead of them at least. The remaining teams other than Indiana could at least be the equal of them too.

I give it 20 games before Curry and Randolph have a punch-on following Eddy missing a wide open Randolph for the 20th time and vice versa. Is there a less pass-happy combination in the league?

And thats really it in a nutshell! On paper they have a lot of talent but those players just do NOT complement each other at all.

Their front court plays no D. Both Curry and Randolph are low post scorers and do their best work in the paint. They both can't be in the paint because there would be no spacing and they will just get into each others way. Neither of them play any defence and neither of them are shot blockers so expect lay ups galore from the opposition.

Now you have Marbury as you PG, Randolph at PF and Curry at C, all 3 need the ball to be effective and all 2 are bit of black holes on offence. Both players in the front court certainly are.

And we didn't even get to Crawford or Q :D

So many mismatched pieces it will be fun watching them self implode once again. They have a lot of talent on that roster but I don't think they will function well as a team.

In such a weak Eastern Conference the Knicks' offence (even if we dont have any D) could be good enough to get into the playoffs.

I reckon we're better off trading Starbury. Yeah hes a good player...but hes taking up a lot of cap space and is on the downside of his career. Also, as Stiffy_18 said Starbury needs the ball in his hands all the time to be effective and in a team with two low-post scorers he's not going to have heaps of the ball. Better off starting Mardy Collins who showed towards the end of the last season that he is a promising prospect. Play him and develop him into a pass-first PG.

glowing praise of zach
glowing praise of isiah
his response to the suggestion he'll have to give the ball up more now.

Cant belive he just put the New York Knicks in the same sentence as the Dallas Mavericks...

He crapped on alot but basically said he said he wants the knicks to be like the mav's, feels like they have the ability to have the same chemistry and coaching staff as the mavs do etc. "we wanna get to the point, we're were like dallas, dallas is the team"

Did anyone else notice he said 'ima average about 10 points, 12-13 dimes, 2-3 assists'?? LOL

Priceless.....He's come so far, but just remember. He can't teach all the children, dawg. How high was Steph?

hahaha man Stephon is damn keen on kissing his sister.

You'd hope he was off his **** but I kind of suspect that's just him. Explains a bit too when you think about it.
