i loved that win! everything was starting to point to a loss. The loss of a mate still obviously raw.Whispers of injuries, huge betting plunge on Eagles. Lynch off at tribunal. Maxy out - no skipper. 4 goals jump start (umpire assisted) Media all over us including haters like McClure, King, Brereton, Walls - none gave us a chance. The disallowed goal was gut wrenching. We cough up 2 easy ones immediately after. words cannot express how bad that decision was.
Then it started to turn. Harry bombs one and shows us the black arm band. The tackles get harder - the intensity rises. They still jag some flukes but by half time we are all over them.
First 15 min of the third. Pendlebury goes mad. Is everywhere. Breaking tackles, in and under, running hard, kicking to perfection and his team lift. The pressure is suddenly frightening and the Eagles wilt. Thomas on fire. Reid marking everything. Blair is right in it. Beams throws off the tag. Eagles lift at start of last and regain lead but glance at the stats. Only one team can win this. Contested ball, tackles, possessions - we are eating them. Last quarter - Beams - close to J-Mac - just keeps pumping it in long. Swannie ices it but NEVER forget - Dawes is on one leg for the whole quarter and our veteran ruckman Darren Jolly- against the best ruck combo in the business - goes the whole quarter without a rest. And he wins. What more could we ever ask??
