NBA 2K8 is the pick of the crop, I myself aren't into many others but I have heard good things from PES2008, FIFA 08 too.

Agree it is terrible although I've never heard of the circle DVD thing being a problem.

Most of what this comes down to is consumers not making informed choices.

People should know about these issues before buying things and refuse the old systems that shops have on offer.

Unfortunately for Mircosoft these people are probably their most important customers.
