SANFL Preview of the AFLW Draft

As many as 39 SANFLW players have nominated to be selected by Adelaide in Tuesday night’s 2021 NAB AFLW Draft.
Approximately 50 Croweaters will be in the total pool of players, with around a dozen also a chance to be selected by AFLW clubs outside of South Australia.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, SANFL Female Talent Manager Robbie Neill indicated at least three South Aussies would be selected by the Crows, with their picks coming in at N0.17, 20 and 34.

SANFLW players could also be selected by clubs outside of the state, such as South Adelaide’s Indy Tahau being chosen by Brisbane in last year’s AFLW Draft.

Or they can also be selected in the days following the AFLW Draft as a Free Agent signing, such as North Adelaide pair Katelyn Pope and Amber Ward heading to West Coast after the 2020 AFLW Draft.

Double Blues ruck Prowse impressed with the Vertical Leap tests while Schirmer won the 20m Sprint while also finishing in the top three of the Agility Test and Vertical Leaps.

Norwood veteran Leah Cutting will be a hoping to have her name called after winning the 2km Time Trial at the AFLW Combine, with the 29-year-old police officer prepared to move interstate if not selected by the Crows.

The AFLW Draft will be streamed live on the AFL website from 6.15pm SA time, stay tuned for coverage on SANFL’s social media channels and website, as each South Australian has their named called.

TASMANIANS could be in demand at the AFLW Draft and top of the shopping list is teen sensation Perri King.

North Melbourne’s VFLW captain, Tasmanian Meagan Kiely, is in the mix, along with Sarah Skinner and Meg Sinclair, as well as teenagers Ella Maurer, Jemma Blair and Camilla Taylor.

I'm glad we have the HS to ask the hard questions, like 'will the best player in the Vic pool last to the sixth Victorian pick' and 'will Geelong use a first round pick on one of Chloe Scheer's mates'. I guess if Geelong can find enough of Scheer's friends to draft, that would help Prespakis get to pick 10.
