I finally got around to reading 1984 by George Orwell and no doubt it lived up to expectations, fantastic book. Didn't feel like wandering too far after that and so I've gone straight on to Aldous Huxley's Brave New World.

Just getting back into trying to finish Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. My reading stalled with about 4 books purchased but unread, as I started about 10 other books from a range of genres.
I find these books relaxing to read and I get a laugh pretty much from every few pages :)

(oops- just checked- two more in the series out since I last looked... MUST. BUY.!!!)

I've started reading Quicksand, the new one by Steve Toltz. A Fraction of the Whole is my fav novel, but this is a huge let down so far. Hugely disappointing.

Just got my hands on Goleman's emotional intelligence series. Read the original, keen to start the other two.

Just finished Excession again, makes me love and miss Banks even more. Unbelievable book, being led to reading of the Minds as being sentient was very cool. I'm glad in a sad way that I discovered his stuff so late because there is so much of this awesome Culture stuff left for me to read.

Am now starting The E-Myth Revisited - a truly exciting tome about small business. That's the fun part of owing a small business, when you've finished working ridiculous hours everyday of the week you get to relax with a nice book about...small business. Let me know if anyone want me to pm them a synopsis, I can also regale you with tales about...small business.

Have had the Windup Girl over a year but not yet read it. Will have to read this next.

Do it man - awesome book.

A moveable Feast-Hemingway.

I'm not a fan of Hemingway really, apart enjoying The Sun Also Rises to an extent. But A Moveable Feast I would recommend. It's short, easy to read yet intelligently written, and just a really nice book in my opinion.

Finishing "Mr Mercedes" first (Stephen King)

I know this is a hard questions to answer, but for the last 10 years (only mid twenties) mostly all i have read is scifi and fantasy and looking at getting stuck into some great books. Where should i start? There seems to be so many recommendations i have no idea!

The easiest answer is start with short stories and novellas from quality writers. But is their any sort of theme or subject you would like to read about?
